Gümüşhacıköy Bedesten and Clock Tower

During the Ottoman period, bedestens were not just covered bazaars where trade took place; they were also the focal points of the city's economic and social life. Gümüşhacıköy Bedesten stands out as one of the strong representatives of this tradition in Anatolia. Built by Köprülü Mehmet Pasha in 1660, the structure has a rectangular plan extending along an east-west axis.
