A 3-day route in Antalya awaits you, stretching from the crystal-clear waters of Kas to the mysterious caves of Alanya, from Lycian coasts to the peaks of the Taurus Mountains. On this itinerary where nature and history intertwine, you will experience many different attractions from ancient cities to lighthouses, from canyons to beaches. Ideal for a budget-friendly summer trip.
Antalya is not just about the sea, sand, and sun trio. This city is an exploration area stretching from ancient civilizations' cities to hidden canyons of the Taurus Mountains. Especially during summer months, I have prepared a 3-day route for couples who want to dive into cool waters and journey through history's dusty pages. An enjoyable trip is possible even on a low budget.
Blue Cave (Kas, Antalya)
Hidden between Kas and Kalkan, near Kaputas Beach, the Blue Cave is a place accessible only by sea. When sunlight reflects off the water, the cave interior turns a turquoise-blue color. During the 1.5 hours you spend here, you can explore the underwater world by snorkeling and cool off in the cave's crystal-clear waters.
Hidayet Cove
Just 2.5 km from Kas center, Hidayet Cove stands out with its clear and deep waters. Once a quiet escape spot, the cove still largely preserves its natural structure. It's a great place for snorkeling where you can swim with fish. You can spend approximately 1.5 hours here.
Aperlai Ancient City
Located in the Kekova region on Sicak Peninsula, Aperlai is one of the Lycian civilization's port cities. With partially submerged ruins, rock tombs, and walls, it can only be reached by sea. You can explore this unique archaeological site in approximately 1.5 hours through boat tours or by renting a private boat. Visitors say the access difficulty is worth it.
Theimiussa Ancient City
Near Ucagiz village, extending along the shores of Kekova bay, Theimiussa is a partially submerged ancient city from the Lycian period. The sarcophagi and wall ruins stretching along the coast are viewed much better through boat tours. Like Aperlai, this place also offers approximately 1.5 hours of exploration.
The second day route moves slightly westward toward Kumluca and Kemer areas.
Gelidonya Lighthouse
Rising at Taslik Cape in Kumluca, Gelidonya Lighthouse is one of the Lycian Way's most striking points. With panoramic views overlooking the Mediterranean, it's a favorite among hiking enthusiasts. It's reached by hiking approximately 8 km from Karaoz village. Allowing 1.5 hours is enough for the lighthouse views.
Olimpos Beach
After Gelidonya Lighthouse, you can proceed to Olimpos Beach. This untouched cove stretching among ancient city ruins, with its turquoise sea and wide sandy beach, is a favorite of nature lovers. Since it's a nesting area for Caretta-Caretta sea turtles, its natural structure is protected. You can spend 1.5 hours swimming and exploring ancient ruins here.
Kitanaura Ancient City
Located on hilltops north of Sarayck area in Golcuk District of Kumluca, Kitanaura Ancient City offers a quiet exploration in harmony with nature. Though access requires some effort, it offers a unique experience for those seeking an untouched atmosphere away from crowds. You can see the ruins with approximately 1.5 hours visit.
Mnara Ancient City
Located at the 1,400-meter peak of Kavak Mountain in Kemer, Mnara was known as Mnarike in ancient times. This mountain city, with challenging access, attracts attention with its historical texture and strategic location. The panoramic view that opens after the difficult climb is worth allowing 1.5 hours.
The last day we draw a cool route toward Alanya with caves and canyons.
Damlatas Cave
Located on the western coast of Alanya's historic peninsula, Damlatas Cave was accidentally discovered in 1948. The cave, impressive with its stalactites and stalagmites, is known as a healing source for asthma patients due to its constant temperature and high humidity. Within walking distance of Cleopatra Beach, it can be explored with approximately 1.5 hours visit.
Sapadere Canyon
Located approximately 40 kilometers from Alanya, Sapadere Canyon impresses with its 750-meter length and 400-meter height as a nature hiking area. With wooden bridges, ice-cold natural pools, and steep rocky walls, it's ideal for cooling off in summer heat. You can spend approximately 1.5 hours here as well.
Altinbesik Cave
Hidden on the slopes of Manavgat Valley in Ibradi district, Altinbesik Cave is one of Turkey's largest underwater lake caves. The 125-meter-long underground lake with stalactites and stalagmites offers a completely different world. Allowing 1.5 hours for the cave, which can be explored by boat tours, will be sufficient.
This 3-day route is ideal for exploring different facets of Antalya, both its history and natural beauty. For accommodation, you can choose boutique hotels or guesthouses in Kas or Alanya city centers, and try local flavors in local restaurants. Renting a car or using local minibuses for transportation will make this route more flexible.
