Kab Mosque is an Ottoman-era structure located in Kapcami Neighborhood of Adıyaman city center, built by Hoca Ali in 1768. The mosque, constructed from finely cut stone, features a wooden baghdadi dome, which is the only example of its kind in the region, making it architecturally significant.
Rising in the heart of Adıyaman city center, in the Kapcami Neighborhood which it lends its name to, Kab Mosque is a modest but original Ottoman-era structure dating back to 1768. Built by Hoca Ali, the mosque underwent extensive renovation in 1923; however, it largely preserved its original architectural character. The structure is built of finely cut stone and holds a special value in architectural history with its baghdadi plastered wooden dome, which is a unique example in the region.
On the northern facade of the mosque, there is a covered last congregation area with two mihrabs. Although the structure was damaged in the earthquake of February 6, 2023, it continues to be one of the important religious sites reflecting Adıyaman's historical fabric. Best Time to Visit
Adıyaman, being a city with a hot climate in Southeastern Anatolia, the most suitable periods for visiting are between April–June and September–November. As temperatures can rise quite high in summer, it will be much more enjoyable to visit the walking points in the city center early in the morning or in the late afternoon.
Those who wish to visit Kab Mosque outside of prayer times can prefer the hours before noon prayer. It should be noted that the mosque may be crowded during Friday prayer times.
