Ilıca Thermal Springs

The best times to visit Ilıca Thermal Springs are spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October). During these seasons, the weather is mild; while you enjoy the thermal water, the surrounding nature accompanies you. In summer, the area can get quite crowded; if you prefer to visit on weekdays, you will find a much calmer environment. In winter, thanks to the warmth of the thermal water, a visit to the springs is possible; only the weather conditions on the access roads need to be monitored in advance.

Ilıca Thermal Springs are located approximately 70 kilometers from Kahramanmaraş city center, in Ilıca Neighborhood, part of Onikişubat district. It is possible to reach by bus services from the city center; however, coming by private car is both more comfortable and provides more flexibility during your visit. Starting from Kahramanmaraş city center, you can first visit Ilıca Thermal Springs, then explore the nearby historic stone bridges and fountains. In the afternoon, taking a break at Halimin Lake Picnic Area and breathing in the region's nature is a great option. Those who want to dedicate more time to thermal tourism can also add Döngele Thermal Springs to their program on the same day.

There are a limited number of guesthouses around Ilıca. Since occupancy rates can increase during weekend visits, making a reservation in advance will make things easier. For broader accommodation options, hotels in Kahramanmaraş city center can be preferred; planning a day trip from there can also be easily done.

In Ilıca Neighborhood and its surroundings, there are small restaurants and breakfast places serving local food. Kahramanmaraş cuisine's indispensable dishes such as spicy kebabs, katmer (layered pastry), and ice cream can be easily found in the region. If you are going on a long journey, it might be practical to bring snacks with you.

The region's historic stone bridges and old fountains offer beautiful shots with natural backgrounds. Halimin Lake Picnic Area is a good spot to capture impressive images during sunset hours. The green valley view around the thermal springs is also quite suitable for photography, especially in spring.
