Kırk Ambar Bazaar

A shopping and dining area established among the Ottoman-era wooden houses in Eskişehir's historical Odunpazarı district. It harmonizes with the general texture of the region; inside, there are small shops, handicraft products, and a restaurant.

The venue, also mentioned in Odunpazarı Municipality's travel guides, is one of the stops that local and foreign visitors add to their regional tours. It does not require a long visit on its own; it naturally enters your route when you visit Odunpazarı.

Odunpazarı gets crowded on weekends, and Kırk Ambar also gets its share. If you want to explore more comfortably, prefer weekdays.

Spring and autumn are the most suitable times for walking among the wooden houses and narrow streets. In summer, the midday heat can make the area tiring; it's better to start around 09:00. Confirm the bazaar's opening and closing hours with official sources before you go.

Eskişehir's tram network is functional. You can take the tram from the city center to the Odunpazarı stop and walk to the bazaar from there. Since all of Odunpazarı is within walking distance, a car is not necessary.

If you come by car, finding parking in the area can be difficult. It's more practical to park in nearby car parks and walk.

Kırk Ambar is usually not planned alone. It's more logical to include it in the same walk with Odunpazarı Houses, Atlıhan Bazaar, and the museums in the region.

A typical route can be set up as follows: starting from Odunpazarı Houses, moving to Atlıhan, then to Kırk Ambar, and having lunch here or in nearby restaurants. The entire region can be comfortably explored in 2–3 hours.

There is a restaurant inside the bazaar. It's a convenient option for sitting down in the middle of your Odunpazarı tour. Keep in mind that it can be busy at lunchtime.

There are also cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets. Odunpazarı is one of Eskişehir's lively areas for food and drink; finding options is not difficult.

You can find handicrafts and souvenirs at Kırk Ambar. It's a better idea to visit with other bazaars in Odunpazarı to compare prices.

Atlıhan Bazaar is the most established place in the region for antiques and handicrafts. Kırk Ambar, on the other hand, has a newer and more organized atmosphere.

The wooden Ottoman houses and narrow streets around the bazaar are among the most photographed corners of Odunpazarı. The entrance and inner courtyard of the bazaar are also suitable for photography.

The light is softer in the afternoon. On weekends, it can be difficult to take photos due to the crowds.

Entry to the bazaar is free. Spending is entirely shaped by what you buy from the shops inside and at the restaurant. There are mid-range options available in the Odunpazarı region.
