Hüsrev Pasha Mosque

The mosque takes its name from Hüsrev Pasha, a vizier during the reign of Murad IV. Completed between 1631 and 1638, the structure is not just a mosque; it is the core of a Menzil Complex consisting of a mosque, a hammam, and a caravanserai. A Menzil complex refers to complexes in the Ottoman period where caravans and military units on long journeys would stay and meet their needs. In this respect, the Hüsrev Pasha Complex is not merely a religious building but a functional historical complex.

Beneath the area where the mosque was built, there are likely remnants of a Byzantine-era church. For definitive archaeological data, it is necessary to consult official sources; however, this layered past increases the historical significance of the structure.

The complex consists of a mosque, a hammam, and a caravanserai. It stands on the old caravan and expedition route: east of Seyitgazi district, southwest of Çifteler district. The mosque's spacious courtyard provides a good area to view the structure as a whole during a visit.

The mosque's spacious courtyard is a natural area to frame the entire structure. The inscription above the entrance gate is striking for a detail photograph. In the morning, the light comes from the east; stone surfaces appear more defined at these times. The mosque is actively used for worship. When entering, shoes must be removed and appropriate clothing worn; a headscarf for female visitors. Avoiding photography during prayer times is important out of respect for the congregation.
