İbrahim Bey Mosque is a historic mosque built in 1705, located in Kale Neighborhood of Kozluk district, Batman. It is a structure open for worship for three centuries, featuring a double-staircase minaret and a zawiya-style plan.
İbrahim Bey Mosque stands in Kozluk's Kale Neighborhood. According to the inscription on its entrance gate, it was built in 1705 by İbrahim Bey, son of Murtaza Bey from the Garzan tribe. For three centuries, it has stood in the same place with the same function: a neighborhood mosque open for five daily prayers.
The most striking feature of the structure is its minaret. It sits on a five-sided base, and double-staircased, with two separate staircases—one with one hundred steps and the other with ninety-nine—ascending within the same minaret. The mosque's plan is also unusual. There is a main space covered by a large dome in the center, with smaller domed side spaces on either side. This is a typical example of the zawiya-style mosque plan. Transitions to the dome are provided by pendentives; the pendentives are made of cut stone, and the domes are brick. To the north, a portico with five arched bays greets visitors, and the mihrab has a semi-circular profile in the middle of the south wall.
Since the interior and exterior walls are covered with cut stone, the structure has survived in good condition to the present day. Recently, restoration work has been on the agenda. It is advisable to confirm with local sources whether work is underway before visiting.
