Yedikapılar Rock Settlement takes its name from the seven gates opening to its underground shelters. Believed to have been built during the Byzantine period, approximately between the 8th and 10th centuries, this area is considered both a monastery complex and an underground structure that served as a shelter against potential dangers. The rooms carved into the rocks, interconnected corridors, and deep ventilation shafts reveal the engineering understanding of the period.

The area is located in a rather desolate geography northeast of Kemerkaya village. The fact that it has not been fully integrated into tourism yet gives visitors a true sense of discovery. In September-October, temperatures drop, crowds are absent, and the area offers a calmer atmosphere.

During the summer months, the region can be hot and dry; especially at noon, the effect of the sun can be felt intensely. In winter, planning a visit can be difficult as roads can sometimes become challenging. Going early in the morning or late in the afternoon provides advantages in terms of both lighting conditions and temperature.

To reach Yedikapılar Rock Settlement, you first need to go from Afyonkarahisar city center to Bolvadin district. The distance between the two points is approximately 80 km and can be covered in a little over 1 hour by road. After reaching Kemerkaya village from Bolvadin, the settlement area is located approximately 3.5 km northeast of the village.

Public transport connections to the region are quite limited. Therefore, renting a car or going by private vehicle is the most practical option.
