The ideal times to visit Seydiler Castle Rock Settlements are spring and autumn. Between April and June, the surrounding nature turns green, making the area much more impressive for both hiking and photography. In September and October, temperatures are balanced, and crowds are significantly smaller.

During the summer months, the region can be quite hot; in this period, visiting in the early morning, preferably before 9:00 AM, will both increase comfort and offer the opportunity to photograph the rocks in the soft morning light. In winter months, the area is not closed to visitors, but roads can sometimes become difficult; it is advisable to check the weather conditions in advance during this period.

The easiest way to reach the area is by private car. From Afyonkarahisar city center, when you take the D715 highway towards Ankara, you will see the Seydiler town sign at approximately the 32nd kilometer. Once you enter the town, local signs and villagers can guide you.

For those preferring public transport, minibus services operate from scehisar district center to Seydiler; however, as the number of services is limited, it is recommended to check current schedules in advance. Regular services to scehisar are available from Afyonkarahisar bus terminal. For those wishing to reach Kırkinler rocks, it is a short walk from the town or a few minutes' extra drive by car.

The most logical approach to explore the area is to follow the natural order of the settlements. Start with Kırkinler Rock; this section is both the most easily accessible and the most important point, housing rare finds such as the Kybele relief. When you climb to the upper part of the rocks, you will have the opportunity to examine the rock altars and the mihrab niche up close.

From here, proceed south to visit the Lower, Middle, and Upper Çatalkaya sections in order. Each section offers different rock-carved rooms and architectural traces from the Byzantine period. At the end of the route, Menevşeli Kaya and Kızılkaya await you; these two points, with the dramatic silhouette formed by volcanic tuff, are extremely suitable for photography. It is recommended to allocate at least 2-3 hours to comfortably complete the entire route.

Seydiler Castle Rock Settlements is a very fruitful area for photography enthusiasts. The upper platform of Kırkinler Rock offers a panoramic viewpoint that allows you to frame both the rocks themselves and the wide surrounding plain. In the morning light, the textures and carved marks on the rock surfaces become much more pronounced.

The rock rooms in the Çatalkaya sections create ideal frames for playing with depth and perspective. Shots taken looking out from inside the door and window niches yield very impressive results. Menevşeli Kaya and Kızılkaya, especially in the golden hour light, i.e., close to sunset, create a unique atmosphere with dramatic shadow-light contrasts. A wide-angle lens and a polarizing filter will be very useful in this area.

Since the area is open-air, sturdy walking shoes are essential; rocky surfaces and steep paths can be challenging with flat-soled shoes. It is recommended to bring sufficient water and light snacks; there are no sales points in the vicinity.

The rock-carved structures are a fragile heritage that has survived for centuries; therefore, it is of great importance to avoid damaging the structures and touching the surfaces. If you are coming with children, be aware that there are high platforms in some sections that require attention. Since there may not be an official guide or information board in the area, doing some basic research beforehand will make your visit much more meaningful.

Seydiler Castle Rock Settlements bear the traces not only of the Byzantine period but also of much deeper historical layers of Anatolia. The Kybele relief in the Kırkinler rocks reveals the region's connection to Phrygian and pre-Anatolian cultures. Kybele is the symbol of Anatolia's Mother Goddess cult, and the carving of such reliefs into rocks indicates that the region was used as a sacred area.

During the Byzantine period, the region transformed into a monastic community with rock-carved churches and chapels. These structures reflect the Christian faith and architectural understanding of the period, while also demonstrating the strategic importance of the region. Considered in geographical and cultural continuity with the Phrygian Valley, this area is regarded as one of the most unique rock settlement examples in Central Anatolia.
