Anıtkaya Martyrs' Memorial

Anıtkaya Martyrs' Memorial was erected in memory of the soldiers who were martyred on August 28, 1922, on the lands where one of the most critical battles of the Turkish War of Independence took place. Located on the upper terrace of a mound in Anıtkaya Town, on the Afyonkarahisar-Kütahya highway, the memorial is considered the most valuable stop in the region both architecturally and historically.

12 officers and 6 privates rest in the memorial. These names are heroes who risked their lives to repel the enemy in the early days of the Great Offensive and personally contributed to the liberation of Anatolia.
