Caddebostan Beach

There isn't one single best season to visit Caddebostan Beach; each period offers a different experience. Between June and September, the beach truly comes alive for those who want to swim and sunbathe. However, during this period, especially on weekends, the beach gets quite crowded. If you arrive early, between 8–10 AM, you'll find a calmer environment and won't have trouble with parking.

April–May and October are perhaps the most ideal times for walking, cycling, and enjoying cafes. When the weather is cool and clear, the Marmara view is much sharper; you can even observe the Princes' Islands. Although the beach becomes deserted in winter, there are quite a few people who come to watch the waves during stormy weather.

The most practical option for public transport is to use Marmaray. You can get off at Göztepe Station and walk to the beach in about 15–20 minutes; this route is quite pleasant as it passes through Bağdat Street. Alternatively, bus lines operating between Kadıköy–Bostancı follow the coastal road and drop you off at the Caddebostan stop.

For those coming by private car, it's possible to reach the vicinity of Caddebostan Park from the side streets descending to the beach from Bağdat Street. Finding parking can be difficult on weekends, so be prepared to park a bit further away and walk. For those coming by bicycle, cycling along the coastal road from Kadıköy to Bostancı is an experience in itself.

Caddebostan Beach becomes a favorite among photography enthusiasts, especially during sunset hours. As the sun descends over the Marmara Sea, it casts orange and pink hues across the beach. To capture this moment, the seating areas around the pier and any point along the walking path offer a good perspective.

On clear days, the silhouette of the Princes' Islands appears in the background; this frame is particularly striking for wide-angle shots. In the early morning, it's possible to capture the contrast between the fog and the sea surface. The tree-lined walking paths in the beach park also provide a beautiful backdrop for plays of light and shadow.

The cafes lined up along the beach stand out with their sea-view terraces. Offering a wide menu from breakfast to evening snacks, these venues have become an indispensable part of a beach walk. A beach morning starting with the trio of simit, fresh fruit juice, and coffee is almost a ritual for Istanbulites.

For a more comprehensive dining experience, heading to Bağdat Street is the best option. A wide range of restaurants, patisseries, and street food, from Turkish cuisine to international cuisines, are concentrated on this street. Fish restaurants, in particular, offer fresh seafood, taking advantage of their proximity to the Marmara.

Bağdat Street, stretching just behind Caddebostan Beach, is known as one of Istanbul's most prestigious shopping avenues. From international brands to local boutiques, bookstores to design shops, you can find everything on this street. Completing a beach visit with a stroll on Bağdat Street is one of the best ways to make the most of your day.

If you're looking for souvenirs or local products, extending your trip to Kadıköy Market is also worthwhile. Kadıköy hosts some of the most vibrant street markets and organic product points on the Anatolian Side. Reaching Kadıköy from the beach is quite easy by bus or on foot.

While the free sections of the beach are open to everyone, we recommend confirming the current prices for paid beach facilities on-site or through the official channels of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality; tariffs may be updated at the beginning of the season. Also, keep in mind that a separate fee applies for those who wish to use sun loungers and umbrellas.

On weekends and during summer holidays, the beach becomes very crowded; parking a car can become a serious problem during these periods. Opting for public transport is both a practical and stress-free option. Additionally, while there are areas where dogs are allowed on the beach, pets are not permitted in the paid beach sections; clarifying this distinction before your visit will be helpful.

Caddebostan Beach is not just a beach; it's a multi-layered outdoor area. There's a walking path with distance markers at regular intervals for morning runners, a wide coastal strip for cycling enthusiasts, and outdoor fitness equipment for sports lovers. Playgrounds and large grassy areas for families with children are also indispensable elements of the beach.

In summer, swimming and sunbathing remain the most popular activities. As sea water quality can fluctuate each year, it's a good habit to follow current water quality measurements before swimming. In addition, street vendors selling along the beach offer classic beach treats like corn, ice cream, and freshly squeezed fruit juice.
