Moda Coastal Park and Promenade

Moda Coastal Park welcomes visitors in all seasons; however, spring and autumn offer the most balanced period in terms of both weather and crowds. Between April-May and September-October, the park's lush green appearance and warm sea breeze can be experienced together.

During the summer months, early mornings should be preferred; in the afternoon, the park and promenade become quite crowded. Sunset hours, on the other hand, offer a unique beauty throughout the year: the sky reddening over the Marmara and the silhouette of the Princes' Islands transform the evening hours into the most sought-after moment in the park.

Even in winter, the park is not deserted; on cold but clear days, the Bosphorus view appears much clearer, creating an ideal environment for a peaceful walk.

One of the most practical ways to reach the park is via the M4 metro line. You can get off at Kadıköy station and reach the coast with approximately a 15-20 minute walk or by bike. This walk through the neighborhood is also enjoyable in itself.

For those who prefer the ferry, Kadıköy Pier is both an economical and scenic option for those coming from the European Side. After docking at the pier, you can easily reach the park by walking towards Moda. The T3 tram line is also among the alternatives providing connection to the neighborhood.

Bus and dolmuş lines operate regular services from Kadıköy center to Moda. If you are coming by car, finding parking in the surrounding streets can be quite difficult, especially on weekends; public transport or cycling would be a much less stressful option.

The classic Moda coastal walk starts around Moda Pier and extends along the coast to Küçükmoda Point. Along this route, benches facing the sea, small green areas, and the silhouettes of historical mansions accompany you.

For those who want to extend their walk a bit, it is possible to wander through the inner streets of the neighborhood, among historical wooden mansions and tree-lined paths. Local routes shared on platforms like Wikiloc also include itineraries that stop at cultural points such as the Kadıköy Greek Orthodox Metropolis and Surp Takavor Armenian Church.

Taking a break at one of Moda's independent cafes at the end of the route has almost become a tradition. The majority of establishments lined along the coast offer seating areas with sea views.

Moda Coastal Park is one of the most productive photography locations on Istanbul's Anatolian Side. Küçükmoda Point allows you to capture both the Marmara Sea and the silhouette of the Princes' Islands in the distance in the same frame.

Moda Pier and its surroundings, with its historical structure bathed in golden light at sunset, are a favorite among photography enthusiasts. Especially on cloudy autumn days, dramatic skies and calm sea surfaces can be captured together.

The tree-lined paths in the inner parts of the park and the fronts of historical mansions also offer a different aesthetic. For photographers seeking fog or soft light in the morning, an early start is definitely worth it.

Moda is one of Istanbul's neighborhoods with the richest independent cafe and restaurant scene. Right near the coastal park and in the inner streets of the neighborhood, coffee shops, brunch spots, and fish restaurants are lined up side by side.

In the neighborhood, especially on weekend mornings, the brunch culture is quite lively; it's wise to arrive early or make a reservation for popular places where long queues can form. On the other hand, there are also small, uncrowded cafes waiting to be discovered in Moda's side streets.

For those who want to grab a bite by the sea, there are also street vendors and small kiosks along the coast. Those who prefer fish restaurants for dinner will find the opportunity to dine with fresh seafood and a view of the Marmara.

Since the park is open 24/7 and completely free, no reservation or ticket is required. On weekends and holidays, especially in the afternoon, the promenade becomes quite crowded; it's advisable to prefer morning hours or weekdays for a calmer experience.

For cyclists, some parts of the promenade can be narrow during peak hours; it is recommended to proceed carefully and slowly towards pedestrians. If you come with a dog, adhering to leash rules will ensure a more comfortable experience for both you and other visitors.

Toilet facilities are available within the park. It is recommended to bring water and light snacks; for those planning long walks, sunscreen and a hat should also be kept in mind, especially in summer.
