The most productive time to visit Manyas Bird Paradise is during the migratory bird seasons of March-May and September-November. In winter, the central district and Bandırma offer a calm atmosphere; for those who wish to benefit from thermal facilities, the cold season holds a special appeal. Accommodation prices in Ayvalık and Sarımsaklı significantly increase during the summer months; if you want to keep your budget in check, early June or late September offers a golden mean.

By Plane: There are two airports in the province: Balıkesir Central Airport and Edremit-Körfez Airport. It is possible to reach both airports from Istanbul with approximately a 1-hour flight. If you are targeting the Mount Ida and Ayvalık region, Edremit-Körfez Airport will be a more practical option.

By Bus: Balıkesir is connected to major cities of Turkey with frequent bus services. You can reach the city by bus in approximately 5-6 hours from Istanbul and 7-8 hours from Ankara. Many companies operate regular services.

By Train: There are train connections from İzmir and Istanbul. It is recommended to purchase tickets in advance for those who prefer train travel.

By Car: Reaching Balıkesir from Istanbul via the TEM or E-80 highway takes approximately 3.5-4 hours. If you plan to visit districts far from each other within the province, traveling by rental car or your private vehicle provides the greatest convenience.

By Sea: Bandırma is connected to Istanbul by IDO and similar sea transportation lines. You can reach Bandırma by ferry in approximately 2-2.5 hours and then proceed to other regions of the province by road.

Balıkesir is a relatively affordable city compared to other popular holiday destinations in Turkey; however, prices in tourist areas like Ayvalık and Sarımsaklı significantly increase during the summer season. Accommodation and food costs remain lower in the city center and Mount Ida villages.

In terms of transportation, public transport within the city is quite economical. Dolmuş and minibus lines offer a budget-friendly alternative for inter-district travel. For those who prefer a rental car, fuel and parking costs should also be taken into account.

Regarding food, fish restaurants on Cunda Island can be expensive; however, delicious meals can be found at much more reasonable prices in small restaurants in Ayvalık bazaar and village restaurants in Mount Ida.
