Yamula Dam

Yamula Dam is a rock-fill structure on the Kızılırmak River, which began impounding water on December 27, 2003. Located northwest of Kayseri, near Yemliha neighborhood, the dam gives the impression of a large lake due to its unique geographical texture. Its proximity to the city and the surrounding natural structure make Yamula one of Kayseri's most well-known recreational areas.

Spring and summer months are ideal for Yamula Dam. During this period, the surrounding vegetation turns green, and the water surface appears calm and clear. In autumn, the surrounding nature, adorned in yellow-orange tones, transforms the dam into a completely different atmosphere. In winter, the region can be cold and snowy; visitors planning a trip during this season should check weather conditions in advance.

From Kayseri city center, follow the D260 highway northwest for approximately 25 kilometers to reach the vicinity of Yemliha neighborhood. Public transport connections to the area are quite limited; therefore, going by car is both the most practical and comfortable option. Car rental from Kayseri Airport or around the bus station can also be considered.

You can set off from Kayseri center in the morning, spend time by the Yamula Dam, and then take a short nature walk in the high-altitude areas surrounding the dam. It's important to bring enough water and food with you. On your return, enjoying the famous flavors of Kayseri in the city center, accompanied by the view of Mount Erciyes, would be a nice complement.

The vast body of water of Yamula Dam creates impressive reflections, especially in calm weather. You can follow the shoreline to take shots from different angles. Panoramic shots encompassing the entire water body can be obtained from the high sections surrounding the dam. The layer of fog that forms in the morning adds a distinct depth to photographs.

When you return to Kayseri city center, you can experience many local delicacies, especially pastırma, sucuk, and mantı, which have become symbols of the city.

Since weather conditions can change rapidly due to the high altitude, remember to bring an extra layer.
