Soğanlı Botanical Park

Soğanlı Botanical Park can be visited in every season of the year; however, each period has its unique charm. April and May see the most interest as these are the months when the rose garden and the azalea-rhododendron garden are in full bloom. For those who want to experience a riot of colors firsthand, these two months are perfect.

During the summer months, the park gets crowded, especially on weekends; the water play pool and shaded areas are very popular during this period. In October-November, the autumn palette created by falling leaves delights photography enthusiasts. For those who want to explore the park more calmly, weekday mornings are always a good choice.

The park is located in Bursa's Osmangazi district, on the İzmir-Istanbul road (D-200 highway), next to Bursa Zoo. You can reach it by private car with approximately a 20-minute drive from Bursa city center; parking is available within the park.

For those who prefer public transport, municipal buses that follow the Soğanlı route operate from Bursa city center. It is sufficient to get off at the zoo stop. Since Bursa Zoo is also on the same route, visiting both places in one go is quite practical.

There are buffets and a patisserie inside the park. You can get hot and cold drinks and light snacks. For those planning a long visit, bringing your own food and consuming it in the picnic areas is a much more economical and enjoyable option.

For a more comprehensive meal, there are various restaurants in the Soğanlı neighborhood around the park and in Bursa's Osmangazi district. For those who want to try Bursa's unique İskender kebab and cağ kebab, many well-established restaurants await you on the way back to the city center.

Among the most attractive photo spots in the park, the rose garden comes first; especially in spring, this area with thousands of blooming roses offers wonderful shots with the help of early morning light. The Japanese garden, with its bridge and orderly plant arrangement, creates a suitable atmosphere for photography in every season.

The ponds are interesting for both documentary and landscape photography during the hours when turtles bask in the sun. The azalea and rhododendron garden, with its pink-purple color palette, serves as a natural studio during its blooming period. For those who prefer wide-angle lenses, the hills offering a general view of the park also provide a good perspective.

2 to 4 hours is sufficient to explore the park at a relaxed pace. For those who want to visit all thematic gardens one by one, relax by the pond, and take photos, half a day can easily be filled. If you are coming with children, the water play area and playground may take extra time, so it's good to plan accordingly.

If you are also considering visiting the adjacent Bursa Zoo, it is recommended to allocate a full day for both venues. Starting early in the morning and leaving the park in the afternoon will allow you to avoid crowds and take photos in the best light.

Since the park is spread over a very large area, it is important to wear comfortable walking shoes. Especially in summer, it is highly recommended to carry sunscreen and plenty of water with you. Lighting fires and barbecuing in picnic areas are generally prohibited; you can check the signs at the park entrance for rules.
