Pertükan Castle is a ruined medieval castle located east of Tekevler village in Batman's Sason district; parts of its walls and towers remain standing, and entry is free.
Pertükan Castle stands 4 kilometers southwest of Sason, on the eastern side of Tekevler village (locally known as Gündenu). The Culture Portal record describes the castle as "in a very dilapidated state." This is no coincidence. Due to its easy accessibility, it was besieged and changed hands many times throughout history. There are collapses in places on the walls and large breaches in some sections. The points where the defense line was most challenged are still visible.
Today, it leaves more of an impression of an archaeological site than a castle ruin to be visited. Parts of the walls and tower remnants stand, but do not expect a restored structure arranged for visitors. A small number of curious travelers exploring Sason and its surroundings also stop here, in addition to the region's more well-known stops (such as Hasankeyf, Bozıkan Castle).

When to Visit
Sason and its surroundings can be quite hot in summer, so spring or autumn months are more comfortable for a castle visit. As it is an open-air area, the ground may be slippery on rainy days, so plan accordingly.
How to Get There
From Batman city center, go to Sason by road. From Sason center, there is approximately a 4-kilometer road to Tekevler (Gündenu) village, and the castle is east of the village. Public transport options are limited, so it is more practical to go by private car or a taxi hired from Sason.
How Much Time to Allocate
The castle itself is a small stop; half an hour to 45 minutes is sufficient. While in Sason, you can combine it with nearby points like Bozıkan Castle to make the day more efficient.
Route Suggestion
If you are spending a few days in Batman, it makes sense to fit Sason district into a single day and visit Pertükan Castle and Bozıkan Castle on the same route. Both are around Sason and are border castles from a similar historical period. Hasankeyf, however, requires a separate day; the distance between the two regions is not short.
Things to Pay Attention To
The castle is in ruins: there are collapses and large breaches in the walls. There is no visitor infrastructure (barriers, warning signs, lighting), so it is advisable to be cautious when climbing or walking close to the walls. Not recommended for families with children.
