April-May and September-October are the most productive periods to visit Aydın. During these months, the weather is ideal for exploring ancient cities on foot; neither the scorching summer heat nor winter rains will tire you out. In spring, strolling through the blossoming orchards of the Menderes Plain offers a special pleasure.

In summer, especially in July and August, temperatures in the inland areas can exceed 40 degrees Celsius. During this period, we recommend visiting open-air sites like Ephesus, Aphrodisias, or Tralleis in the early morning or late afternoon. Coastal districts like Kuşadası and Didim can be preferred for summer holidays, but keep in mind that they can be crowded and prices higher.

Winter months offer a quiet alternative for exploring the city center and museums. Indoor venues such as the Aydın Archaeology Museum and the Thales Mathematics Museum provide a rich experience for visitors even on a rainy winter day.

By Bus: There are regular bus services to Aydın from every major city in Turkey. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to reach Aydın from İzmir. Many national bus companies operate services on the Aydın route; booking tickets online in advance provides an advantage in terms of both time and cost.

By Train: Regional train services are available between İzmir and Aydın. Train travel is a scenic and economical option; the line along the Büyük Menderes Valley, in particular, offers beautiful rural views.

By Car: Aydın can be easily reached from İzmir via the D550 highway. Coming with your own car provides great convenience for exploring locations far from the city center, such as Aphrodisias, Nysa, and Lake Bafa. Considering the distances between Aydın's districts, a rental car can also be a good choice.

By Plane: The closest airports to Aydın are İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (approximately 80 km) and Milas-Bodrum Airport. It is possible to reach Aydın from both airports by transfer vehicles or buses.

In Aydın city center, municipal buses and minibuses (dolmuş) are the primary means of transportation. Most of the historical and cultural sites within the city can be reached by public transport. Tralleis Ancient City is quite close to the city center and can even be reached on foot.

However, Aydın's districts are quite far from each other. If you are including places like Kuşadası, Didim, Lake Bafa, or Aphrodisias in your plan, considering rental car or private transfer options will provide a much more practical travel experience. Minibus connections to some districts are also provided via the intercity bus terminal.

Taxis and app-based driver services are readily available in the city center. Bicycle rental options are also becoming increasingly common for short-distance trips.

Aphrodisias Ancient City and Museum: Aydın's most impressive ancient city. Dedicated to Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, this city captivates visitors with its exceptionally preserved sculptures and stadium. It is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Entrance is paid; Museum Pass is accepted.

Ephesus Ancient City: One of the best-preserved ancient cities in the world, Ephesus is located within the borders of the Selçuk district. The Celsus Library, the Great Theater, and the ruins of the Temple of Artemis are must-see points.

Tralleis Ancient City: Easily accessible due to its proximity to Aydın city center, this ancient city stands out especially with its Roman-era ruins.

Nysa Ancient City: Located in the Sultanhisar district, Nysa offers a fascinating discovery experience with its theater, library, and tunnels. It is open seven days a week; free entry with Museum Pass.

Your accommodation preference largely depends on what you want to do in Aydın. Aydın cuisine offers tables that preserve the Aegean olive oil tradition in its purest form. Figs are almost a symbol of Aydın; the world-famous Aydın fig appears in many places fresh, dried, or as a dessert.
