Halkalı Evliya Tomb

The Halkalı Evliya Tomb, despite its modest appearance, carries a strong spiritual weight among the structures reflecting Amasya's deep-rooted history. The tomb, dating back to the 15th century, belongs to Saru Hatun, the daughter of Şadi Bey, who was descended from Amasya Emir Şadgeldi Pasha. The structure, with its conical dome resting on four supporting pillars, is considered one of the finest examples of the baldachin plan tradition in Anatolia. While the south facade is kept closed, the other sides are left open; this allows the tomb to be easily viewed from both inside and outside.

Due to its proximity to the Çeribaşı Mosque, it is also possible to reach the tomb through an arched door opening from inside the mosque. This integrated design shows that the structure was conceived as an integral part of the religious complex.
