The ideal period to visit Mount Hasan is during the summer season, extending from early June to late September. During these months, the snow has melted, the trails to the summit are open, and weather conditions are relatively stable. For those planning a summit climb, July and August offer the safest window.

In the spring months, especially May, the foothills and oak forests of the mountain are covered with flowers; this period is quite beautiful for taking photos and short hikes. However, since snow may still be present in the higher sections, experience and proper equipment are essential for a summit climb. Autumn offers a cool and calm visiting experience, with the forests turning into red-yellow hues. In winter, the mountain is covered with snow, and summit climbing is only suitable for experienced mountaineers.

The most practical way to reach Mount Hasan is by private car. From Ankara, it takes approximately 3 hours to reach Aksaray; then, the mountain can be accessed via two different routes.

Western route: From Aksaray, head towards Yukarı Dikmen Village to reach the western foothills of the mountain. Northern route: This road, passing through Helvadere Town, leads to the main area where climbing camps are set up and is more commonly used by mountaineers. Accommodation and camping facilities are available in Helvadere. Taking a taxi from Aksaray city center or renting a car can also be preferred; public transportation options are limited.

The most preferred starting point for the Mount Hasan summit climb is Helvadere Town. From here, after reaching the foot of the mountain by car, the climb begins. Depending on the weather and physical condition, the round trip to the summit takes 5 to 7 hours.

It is recommended to start the climb early, preferably before dawn or at sunrise; this helps to avoid the heat and reach the summit before noon, thus avoiding sudden weather changes that may occur in the afternoon. As you approach the summit, the terrain becomes rocky and steep; sturdy hiking boots and trekking poles provide great ease. There are also shorter and easier hiking trails at the foothills of the mountain; these trails are suitable for family groups and beginner hikers.

Mount Hasan serves as an open-air studio for photography enthusiasts. Upon reaching the summit, the vast plains of Aksaray, the silvery reflections of Lake Tuz, and the distant silhouette of Cappadocia come together in a single frame; this view offers extraordinary light quality, especially in the early morning and at sunset.

The Helvadere surroundings at the foothills of the mountain and the oak forests also offer different photography opportunities throughout the four seasons: slopes covered with flowers in spring, a red forest canopy in autumn, and the dramatic silhouette of the snow-capped peak in winter. For those who want to capture paragliders gliding down the mountain, wide-angle shots taken from the foothills yield very impressive results. The 3268-meter summit of Mount Hasan can pose serious challenges for inexperienced mountaineers. Before climbing, always check the weather forecast; the weather on the mountain can change very quickly, and fog, sudden rain, or storms can appear unexpectedly.

Carry sufficient water, high-calorie snacks, spare layers of clothing, and a first-aid kit. Sunscreen and sunglasses are essential at high altitudes. Instead of climbing alone, it is important for safety to move in groups of at least two people. GSM signal may be weak or non-existent on the mountain; therefore, it is advisable to share your route with your loved ones in advance. In winter and early spring, crampons may be needed due to snow and ice.

In Helvadere Town, located right at the foothills of Mount Hasan, and in nearby villages, there are small restaurants and breakfast places. For before and after the climb, village breakfast, fresh bread, and local cheeses are both practical and satisfying options.

Upon returning to Aksaray city center, the options expand. Among the prominent flavors of Aksaray cuisine are testi kebab (pottery kebab), etli ekmek (meat bread), and local tandoor. If you plan to picnic on the mountain, it is recommended to procure ready-made food from Aksaray or Helvadere in advance; there are no sales points near the summit.

The closest accommodation option for climbing Mount Hasan is in the small hotels and guesthouses in Helvadere Town. These facilities, frequently preferred by mountaineering groups, offer modest but functional accommodation. Camping at the foot of the mountain is also possible; especially a night camp before a summit climb is a common choice.

Due to its proximity to the Cappadocia region, boutique hotels in Nevşehir and Ürgüp can also be used as a base; however, in this case, the travel time to Mount Hasan increases.
