Pink Mansion (İsmet İnönü Museum House)

The Pink Mansion is not a museum open all year round; this makes it one of Ankara's most special and privileged visitor attractions. The mansion opens its doors for free every year during an approximately one-month period covering April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day and an approximately one-month period covering October 29th Republic Day.

To avoid missing the visit dates, we recommend following the official announcements of the İnönü Foundation. Since interest in the mansion is quite high during holiday periods, choosing weekday mornings will provide a calmer experience. On a sunny day, the garden also gains a special beauty.

The Pink Mansion is located in Ankara's Çankaya district, directly opposite Seğmenler Park. To reach it by public transport, you can use bus numbers 408 and 413 departing from in front of Kızılay Güvenpark, get off at the Köşk stop, and walk for a few minutes to reach the mansion.

For those coming by private car, finding parking in the vicinity can sometimes be difficult; therefore, choosing public transport or a taxi would be more practical. A short walk through Seğmenler Park before arriving will turn the visit into a more enjoyable experience.

İsmet İnönü purchased this modest-looking mansion as a small vineyard house on September 10, 1923; he and his family began living here from 1925 onwards. As one of Ankara's oldest structures, the Pink Mansion also left its mark on the social life of the capital: hosting Ankara's first ball is just one of the details symbolizing the mansion's historical importance.

Many important discussions that shaped the future of the young Republic of Turkey took place under this roof, where Atatürk was also a guest from time to time. İnönü's library of 8,000 books, personal belongings reflecting his interest in sports and agriculture, and family photographs transform the mansion into a much more intimate place than an ordinary museum. The ground floor is now arranged as a museum, where visitors can trace the daily life of the İnönü family.

The Pink Mansion, with its namesake pale pink facade and well-maintained garden, offers an atmosphere that will please photography enthusiasts. To best frame the mansion's exterior, you can take shots from the garden entrance or from Seğmenler Park opposite.
