Kapılı (Cıngırt) Kazankaya Waterfalls is a free waterfall located in a forested valley in Ordu's Çaybaşı district, within a natural hiking trail that requires walking.
Kapılı Waterfall, also known as Cıngırt Kazankaya among locals, flows through a forested valley within the borders of Çaybaşı district. It is one of the lesser-known natural spots in Ordu. Getting there is an adventure in itself: the area is arranged as a natural hiking trail, meaning you don't drive right up to the waterfall and find it in front of you; you walk a bit.
The Historical Çayır Mosque and the nearby Çayır Fountain constitute the historical stops of the trail. If you want to extend your walk, you can climb Tirfil Hill to view the region from above. Rocky surfaces become slippery in humid weather; sturdy-soled shoes are not an accessory here, but a necessity.
The region is surrounded by endemic vegetation and picnic areas. The water flow changes with the season, so the appearance of the waterfall varies considerably between spring and late summer.

The water flow of the waterfall changes with the season. After the snow melts, in spring, the water is at its most abundant. A decrease is observed after mid-summer, but summer months can still be preferred for greenery. On rainy days, the rocks become more slippery; it's useful to check the weather forecast.
How to Get There?
Çaybaşı town center is the starting point for this trip. It is approximately 94 km from Ordu and 61 km from Fatsa. After reaching Çaybaşı by your own vehicle, you follow the Kapılı Village Road. The last part from the village to the waterfall is covered by walking. Public transport is limited; if you don't have a car, you might need to look into local minibuses or taxis from Çaybaşı.
How Much Time Should You Allocate?
2-3 hours are sufficient just for the waterfall. If you want to climb Tirfil Hill and see the Çayır Mosque and Çayır Fountain, set aside half a day. If you are coming from Ordu city center, it makes more sense to dedicate the entire day to this trip when travel time is added.
Route Suggestion
Starting from Çaybaşı center, you can first see the Historical Çayır Mosque, then the Çayır Fountain. Continue your walk from here towards the waterfall, and if you have time, climb Tirfil Hill on your way back to view the region from above. These three stops fit into a single day.
Things to Pay Attention To
The area where the waterfall is located is a natural hiking trail; there is a regular walking path, but the ground is not flat everywhere. Some points consist of slippery rocks, so be careful, especially when approaching the water's edge. Wear non-slip shoes and bring enough water. Families with children should closely supervise in rocky areas.
Photography Spots
The rocky pool where the waterfall cascades is the most preferred photography spot. General landscape shots taken from Tirfil Hill also show the valley as a whole. Due to the endemic vegetation, photos taken in spring, when the greenery is most dense, come out more vibrant.
