Boztepe

The most practical way is the cable car departing from the coast. It reaches the summit in about 7 minutes, during which the old houses of the city, then the coastline, pass below you. For those who want to go by private car, there is a 6 km scenic road, which takes 10-15 minutes, and parking is available at the top. There is no direct bus or dolmuş line from the city center to Boztepe; you need to take a dolmuş to the cable car station and continue from there.

There is also a route for those who prefer to walk up, but the road is steep, and the ascent takes an average of 1-1.5 hours. Going up by cable car and descending via this route offers the opportunity to see both the view and nature.

In the summer months, both the cable car and the hill are more crowded. In winter, some parts of the road can be icy; keep this in mind if you plan to go by car. From a photography perspective, the most productive times are early morning or near sunset. The light shows the coast and the city more clearly at these times.

It is reported that cable car fees have been increased several times recently. Around late 2025, a full round-trip ticket is in the range of 250-350 TL, one-way between 150-200 TL. A discounted rate applies for students, and a separate, higher fee is applied for foreign visitors. Cash and credit cards are accepted for payment. Since prices change frequently, confirm the current rates before you go.

1-1.5 hours is sufficient just to go up by cable car, see the view, and sit in a cafe. If you want to explore the walking trails and take photos from different spots, you can extend it to 2-3 hours. If you are planning a one-day trip in Ordu, you can fit Boztepe into the same day as a coastal walk and Taşbaşı Neighborhood in the city center.

Drinking tea and watching the city from the cafes in Boztepe is a classic habit. You can take short tours on the surrounding walking trails. The establishments at the summit generally focus on simple snacks and hot drinks. For a real dining experience, restaurants in the city center offer a wider selection.

After visiting Boztepe, Yason Cape and Ordu coast are nearby spots that can be added to the same day's itinerary. If you are spending a few days in Ordu, Perşembe Plateau and Kurul Castle can also be included in the list; these stops are a bit further from Boztepe and require a separate day.

In winter months, check road conditions before setting off and be prepared for possible icing. During the summer season, waiting times for the cable car can be longer, so going early is an advantage.
