Düzoba Plateau

Düzoba Plateau, considered the plateau center of Kumru district, is one of the region's prominent natural spots with its wide meadows and surrounding spruce-hornbeam forests. The plateau is a preferred area for nature walks, camping, and picnics for both locals and travelers visiting the region.

The best time to visit Düzoba Plateau is the summer season, between the end of May and the beginning of October. During these dates, a plateau market is set up every Sunday, adding vitality to the region. The Düz Oba Plateau Festivals, held on July 23-24, are also among the liveliest days of the plateau; artistic events, sports competitions, and oil wrestling can be watched during this period.

Access to Düzoba Plateau is provided via the Kumru district of Ordu. The distance between Ordu and Kumru is approximately 65 km, and between Kumru and Fatsa is approximately 32 km. Access by your own vehicle is the most practical option. Visitor comments state that the road via Korgan district is smoother, but some sections may be narrow; the road via Kumru is rougher. Therefore, planning your route in advance can facilitate the journey.

The duration of time to spend at Düzoba Plateau generally varies according to the purpose of the visit. While a 2-4 hour visit may be sufficient for just the scenery and a picnic, those visiting on a Sunday coinciding with the plateau market or during the festival period in July may prefer to spend the entire day in this area. For those who want to camp, an overnight stay is also possible.

For those departing from Ordu city center, Kumru district can be the first stop. After Kumru, you can proceed to Düzoba Plateau and plan a day trip including other plateaus in the vicinity such as Erikçeli (Bakacak) Plateau and Ericek Plateau. If visiting on a Sunday, exploring the plateau market, and if visiting in July, following the festival program will enrich the itinerary.

Visitor comments frequently state that road conditions are more neglected compared to other plateaus, and in some sections, the road narrows due to stone wall construction. Therefore, careful driving is recommended, especially for those going by their own vehicle.
