Miniatürk

Miniatürk, whose foundation was laid on June 30, 2001, opened its doors on May 2, 2003. Operated by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the park holds the title of the world's largest miniature park with its 60,000 square meter area. Built on an old park area of the Golden Horn, Miniatürk quickly became one of Istanbul's most visited spots.

The park's slogan has been determined as A Small Model of a Great Country. This slogan perfectly summarizes its content: structures selected from all corners of Anatolia have been brought here, evaluated according to criteria such as recognition, representation of their period, and suitability for model making. Having hosted over 5 million visitors by 2015, the park continues to be an indispensable stop for local and foreign tourists.

The park is closed on Mondays, and open to visitors from 10:00 AM on other days. Arriving in the early morning allows you to avoid crowds and comfortably photograph the models. Especially on weekends, the density significantly increases in the afternoon.

In terms of season, April, May, September, and October are the most comfortable visiting periods. The weather in these months is neither too hot nor too cold; walking outdoors for a long time is enjoyable. In mid-summer, especially at noon, the sun can be quite harsh, so don't forget to bring a hat and water. While visiting in winter is possible, opening hours may change during certain periods; it's a good habit to check the official website before going.

Miniatürk is located in Sütlüce Neighborhood of Beyoğlu district, on the Golden Horn shore. For those using the Metrobus, the most practical option is to get off at the Halıcıoğlu stop; from there, it is possible to reach the park by walking or a short taxi ride. The Haliç stop on the M2 metro line also offers a reasonable walking distance alternative.

For those coming by private car, there are parking areas around the park. Considering traffic density, it is sufficient to follow İmrahor Street after crossing the Golden Horn bridge. While the Golden Horn line is also an option for those coming by boat, it is necessary to check the pier distance beforehand.

Miniatürk is practically an open-air studio for photography enthusiasts. Thanks to the 1/25 scale models, you can create perspective illusions, capturing shots as if you are standing in front of a giant structure. In the morning light, the models of Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace look particularly impressive.

In the section of the park facing the Golden Horn, it is possible to capture both the models and the real Istanbul skyline in the same frame. At sunset, the golden light transforms the stone and marble textured models into a completely different atmosphere. For families with children, photos comparing heights next to the models also create quite entertaining shots.

There are cafes and resting areas for visitors inside the park. If you plan a long walk, taking water and light snacks with you will make your trip more comfortable. Hot and cold drinks, as well as simple snacks, can be obtained at the facilities within the park.

For a more comprehensive dining experience, restaurants around Sütlüce and the Golden Horn are a good option. This area, offering options from various cuisines, especially fish restaurants, can be considered for lunch or dinner before or after your visit.

The entrance ticket is valid only for the day it is purchased; no refunds are given, and re-entry with the same ticket is not possible after leaving the park. Therefore, make sure you allocate enough time. An average visit takes 1.5 to 3 hours; however, those who enjoy photography or families with children may spend longer.

The park has flat walking paths suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. If you download the Miniatürk Mobile application in advance, you can follow the location and story of each work step by step. During crowded periods, especially during the school trip season (April–May), arriving in the early morning makes the visit much more enjoyable.

The Mevlana Mausoleum model that greets you at the park's entrance starts the visit with a symbolic welcome message. Proceeding clockwise from the entrance makes it easier to follow the geographical and chronological distribution of the works.

When planning your route, first visit the ancient structures of Anatolia (such as Ephesus, Troy, Aspendos), then explore the magnificent mosques and palaces of the Ottoman period. Complete the tour in the final section with Republican era structures and modern architectural examples. You can take a short break in the section of the park facing the Golden Horn to both rest and enjoy the view.
