İhsan Erdemgil Mansion

İhsan Erdemgil Mansion is not just an ordinary historical building. With Atatürk's arrival in Sivrihisar on March 7, 1922, it transformed into the de facto headquarters of the War of Independence for three days. Daytime inspections of the front, strategic work continued in this mansion at night. The building bears the traces of those days.

Today, the room where Atatürk stayed is preserved in the mansion, which has been organized as a small museum. The element that particularly draws visitors' attention is the 1920 Turkish flag displayed above the bed. There is staff available; you can receive guided support.

According to Gezgin Portalı, the mansion is open weekdays from 10:00–12:00 and 13:00–16:00, and weekends from 09:00–12:00 and 13:00–16:00. Keep in mind that it closes for lunch; if you are coming from afar, choosing the first morning session is safer. Confirm current hours with an official source before visiting.

Sivrihisar can be quite hot in the summer. Spring and autumn are more comfortable for both a mansion visit and a district tour.

The distance from Eskişehir city center to Sivrihisar is approximately 70 kilometers. It is reached by private car following the E90/D200 route; the road is flat and comfortable. There are regular minibus and bus services from Eskişehir bus terminal to Sivrihisar. The mansion is within walking distance after getting off in the town center.

Public transportation options in Sivrihisar are quite limited. A car or taxi is more practical for getting around the district.

The mansion is a short visit on its own. If you are going all the way to Sivrihisar, it makes sense to add other historical points of the district to your program to make the day more productive. Sivrihisar Ulu Mosque, Çarşı Mosque, and the historical texture of the district are connected within walking distance.

Leaving Eskişehir in the morning, visiting the mansion and Ulu Mosque before noon, spending time in the district bazaar in the afternoon, and returning in the evening works as a one-day program.

The mansion visit is completed in 30–45 minutes. It is a small-scale museum; there is no large exhibition area that requires a long stay. When combined with other historical points of Sivrihisar, half a day is sufficient for the district.

The exterior of the mansion reflects traditional Sivrihisar mansion architecture and offers a good photo frame. Inside, Atatürk's room and the flag exhibition above it are the most interesting points. It is necessary to ask the on-site staff if photography is allowed.

The mansion closes at lunchtime; if you miss this detail, you might return empty-handed. It is healthiest to confirm visiting hours and entrance fees with Odunpazarı Municipality or Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism before going. As the building is an old mansion, wheelchair access may be limited.
