The Çanakkale 1915 Red Crescent Hospital Revitalization Area, located in Alçıtepe, Eceabat, is an open-air museum that reconstructs a mobile Red Crescent hospital in its actual size, which treated soldiers wounded at the front during the Çanakkale Battles; the trench, operating room, tea house, and warehouse sections are brought to life with sound systems and mannequins.
During the Çanakkale Battles, soldiers wounded at the front were first taken to casualty clearing stations, then to dressing stations, and from there to hospitals further back. The final link in this chain was formed by the mobile hospitals established by the Hilâl-i Ahmer Society (today's Red Crescent). The revitalization area in Alçıtepe reconstructs one of these hospitals in its actual size and with all its details.
The visit begins at the machine gun trench that protected the hospitals from enemy aircraft. Then, areas such as the tea house, operating room, warehouse, and registration section are visited in sequence. The sound systems in the area recreate the events at a bombed dressing station, transporting the visitor to that moment. The scenes set up with mannequins and decorations show how difficult the conditions were for the medical struggle behind the front lines.
It is located within the borders of Alçıtepe Village, on the road to the Martyrs' Monument. It is an area to be explored on foot, which can be planned along with other trenches and cemeteries on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

Best time to visit
The area is open all year, but in summer, the midday heat in Alçıtepe's open terrain can be tiring. If spring or autumn is preferred, walking is more comfortable, and the trench and garden sections are better seen. For those going to Çanakkale around March 18, the region is already busy. Going outside these dates provides a calmer trip.
How to get there
The area is located within the borders of Alçıtepe Village, Eceabat district, on the road to the Martyrs' Monument. If you are going by your own car, it takes about 20 minutes from Eceabat. Since public transport options are limited, a private tour covering other trench and cemetery areas in the region or car rental is more practical.
How to add to your itinerary
This area is not a standalone destination but rather part of the larger route within the Gallipoli Peninsula Historical Area. When planned together with Kirazlıdere, Zığındere Martyrs' Cemetery, and the surrounding trench lines, it forms a comprehensive day. Alçıtepe village itself is also a small stopover point where you can have tea and continue.
How much time to allocate
The area itself can be explored in 45 minutes to 1 hour. Starting from the trench and touring the tea house, operating room, warehouse, and registration section takes this long. A few more minutes are needed to watch the scene with the sound system.
Things to note
The sound system recreating the bombing of the dressing station activates suddenly and produces a very realistic noise. It might be useful to give a warning beforehand for small children or visitors sensitive to sound. The area is outdoors and the ground is not flat, making it difficult to navigate with wheelchairs or strollers.
Photo spots
The trench line and operating room scene are the most photographed sections due to the mannequins showing period details. The exterior of the hospital building and the garden section are also preferred for shots reflecting the atmosphere of the period.

When Çanakkale Battles are mentioned, trench lines and combat scenes usually come to mind. But there is also the medical side of the war. This area precisely fills that gap: it shows the process of transporting a wounded soldier from the front to the hospital, along with the medical facilities of the period. It concretely exhibits the chain from the first aid given with a field dressing to the operation in the operating room.
