Şehzade Ahmed Tomb

Şehzade Ahmed, one of the sons of Bayezid II, was born in Amasya in 1466. The tomb of Şehzade Ahmed, who lost his life in the struggles for the Ottoman throne, was built within the Muradiye Complex by his brother and the new ruler, Sultan Selim I. Dating back to 1513, this structure serves as an important monument reflecting Ottoman dynastic traditions and the tragic power struggles between brothers.

The architect of the tomb is Alaaddin. When evaluated together with the other tombs of the Muradiye Complex, the structure presents a comprehensive picture of early Ottoman tomb architecture. The six sarcophagi inside indicate that the tomb was dedicated not only to the prince but also to those close to him.

While Bursa is suitable for visits in all four seasons, the most enjoyable time to visit the Muradiye Complex is during April-May and September-October. During these periods, the weather is neither too hot nor too cold; the complex garden is also quite vibrant. In summer, especially during midday, Bursa can be quite hot; choosing early morning hours ensures a more comfortable visit.

Şehzade Ahmed Tomb is located in Muradiye Neighborhood, on 2. Murad Street, in Bursa's Osmangazi district. It is possible to reach directly from Bursa city center by municipal buses serving the Muradiye Neighborhood route. In addition to buses, city minibuses also operate on this route.

For those arriving by car, parking facilities are available in the immediate vicinity of the complex. The complex can also be reached on foot from the Tophane district; along this route, it is possible to see Bursa's historical texture up close. Taxis and app-based car services can also be used as a practical option.

Visiting the Şehzade Ahmed Tomb not alone, but together with other structures within the Muradiye Complex, offers a much more rewarding experience. In the complex, the Tombs of Murad II, Şehzade Mustafa, and the Muradiye Mosque are among the main stops. Approximately one and a half hours is sufficient to comfortably visit the entire complex.

After Muradiye, you can continue to the nearby Hüsnü Züber House or towards the city's historical bazaar area. For those who want to see Bursa's historical center in a single day, a walking route covering the Tophane, Muradiye, and Hisar areas is quite logical.

The Muradiye Complex offers a rich environment for photography. The exterior facade and entrance gate details of the Şehzade Ahmed Tomb provide beautiful shots for those wishing to document Ottoman stonework. The complex garden, especially during its blooming period in spring, forms a green backdrop that can be used.

When photographing the sarcophagi inside the tomb, it is important to respect the sanctity of the place and not disturb other visitors. Morning hours, when natural light is best, should be preferred for both interior and exterior photographs.

As the tomb is a religious site, a quiet and respectful demeanor is expected during the visit. Appropriate clothing is recommended when entering. Since the tomb's floor may be carpeted or stone, comfortable shoes would be appropriate.
