İçmeler Bay

İçmeler Bay experiences its liveliest period in the summer months. As it is the first bay within the national park, it gets seriously crowded on weekends; visitors report great difficulty in finding parking. If you come on weekdays, you can find both a quieter beach and much easier parking. In the summer season, slight waves may form on windy days; otherwise, the sea remains calm.

To reach the bay, which is approximately 8 kilometers from Kuşadası city center, you need to pass through the entrance of Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park. Coming by car is the most practical option; however, finding parking at the national park entrance and around the bay becomes quite difficult on weekends. If you prefer to visit on weekends, we recommend setting off early in the morning. You can also walk down to the bay from the national park entrance.

İçmeler Bay is located at the entrance of Dilek Peninsula National Park, making it the most easily accessible bay. Its shallow sea is a prominent feature; one can walk a long distance at knee-height, which is a great advantage for small children. The bay has showers, changing cabins, toilets, a prayer room, and picnic tables. There is also a market; however, visitors state that prices are higher compared to the city center, so it is more sensible to bring your own provisions.

Since it is within the national park boundaries, lighting fires is strictly forbidden. There are wild boars in the area; they are not aggressive but are attracted to food left in the open. Visitor comments on cleanliness are mixed; although the facility's infrastructure is found to be sufficient, some visitors emphasize that beach cleanliness is inadequate.

The bay's landscape, intertwined with nature, offers striking shots, especially in the area right in front of the sea entrance. The greenery surrounding both sides of the bay, combined with the turquoise tones of the sea, creates a beautiful frame. Morning hours are the most suitable time for photography as the light is softer and the crowds are smaller.

Lighting fires within the national park is strictly forbidden; violating this rule can lead to serious penalties. Do not leave your food unattended; there are wild boars in the area. On weekends, the density of crowds is noticeably felt both in the parking lot and on the beach area. Since market prices in the bay are high, it is recommended to procure your drinks and snacks beforehand. As the sea is shallow, other bays might be more suitable for those looking for deep water.

İçmeler Bay is suitable for a half-day visit on its own. If you arrive in the morning and leave in the afternoon, you can both enjoy the sea and have time to visit other bays in the national park. Since there are multiple bays within the national park, it makes sense to add other bays to your itinerary for those planning a full day.

There is a market and a cafe within the bay. Visitors state that market prices are significantly higher compared to the city center. Since the picnic area is large, bringing your own food is both a more economical and more enjoyable option. In Kuşadası city center, it is much easier and more affordable to find all kinds of restaurants and markets.
