Sırtlanini Cave

Sırtlanini Cave and its surrounding valley take on their most vibrant green in spring (March-May); during this period, both the cave surroundings and the Aphrodisias valley gain a very impressive appearance. Autumn (September-November) is also a good period for a comfortable visit as temperatures drop. Since the intense heat of the Aegean in summer months can make hiking difficult, it would be wiser to prefer early morning hours or choose the spring-autumn period.

To reach the cave, you first need to arrive at Karacasu district center via Aydın or Nazilli. From Karacasu, you need to travel approximately 13.5 km further to Çamarası Neighborhood. Public transportation options are extremely limited on this route, so going by car is the most logical choice. If you are visiting Aphrodisias Ancient City, you can include the cave on the same day; the distance between the two points is only 9.5 km.

For those who want to explore the Karacasu area, the following route can be considered: Visiting Aphrodisias Ancient City in the morning and then moving on to Sırtlanini Cave is a practical way to make efficient use of the day. The 9.5 km distance from Aphrodisias to the cave can be covered quickly by car. In the afternoon, you can return to Karacasu center for a local meal break.

Sırtlanini Cave alone accounts for a half-day activity. When combined with Aphrodisias Ancient City, it would be appropriate to plan a full day. While 1-2 hours is sufficient for the cave itself, this period may extend for those who wish to take short walks in the surrounding valley.

The entrance of the cave and its surrounding natural texture offer a beautiful backdrop for photography, especially in spring. For those who want to capture panoramic views of the Aphrodisias valley, higher points around the cave can also be utilized. Morning hours, when natural light is best, are more advantageous for both interior and exterior cave photographs.
