Uludağ National Park

Uludağ National Park offers visitors a different experience in all four seasons. In winter months, especially from mid-December to late March, ideal conditions for ski slopes and winter sports are created. Although snow depth and slope quality vary from year to year, this period is the busiest season for ski enthusiasts.

Summer months, from June to September, are perfect for hiking, camping, and photography. For those looking to escape the scorching heat of the Bursa plain, the cool and fresh air of the mountain offers a great opportunity to breathe. The light filtering through the fog clouds in the morning captivates photography enthusiasts. Spring, with its blooming endemic plants and greening forests, constitutes the most colorful period of the park; however, roads can sometimes be muddy, so it's good to be prepared accordingly.

There is approximately 36 km from Bursa city center to the main entrance of the park, and this journey takes about an hour by car. If you are using a private car, you can follow the Uludağ signs via Çekirge Street or choose the İnkaya Village road, famous for its historic plane tree. The park ticket office is located approximately 20 km from Bursa city center.

For those who do not want to drive, minibuses and taxis depart regularly from the Tophane district. However, the most enjoyable and scenic option is undoubtedly the cable car. The cable car, departing from Tophane, takes you to the higher parts of the mountain in a short time; you will experience a breathtaking journey along the way, accompanied by panoramic views of the Bursa plain.

If you are planning a day trip, taking the cable car up to explore the higher parts of the mountain, then hiking along the trails, is a good starting point. The paths connecting the northern and southern slopes of the mountain allow you to reach different valleys and hills. If you are considering a longer visit, staying overnight at one of the camping areas will make it easier to explore the park in depth. A hike starting early in the morning will be very productive for both observing wildlife and capturing the atmosphere created by fog and light. Hotels and facilities in the higher parts of Uludağ offer restaurant and cafe services to visitors. In the region, you will frequently encounter İskender kebap, candied chestnuts, and peach products, which are indispensable parts of Bursa cuisine. During the ski season, you can find light snacks like hot soup and pastries in the cafeterias near the slopes.

If you are camping, it is recommended to procure your food from Bursa; commercial areas within the park are limited, and prices may be higher compared to the city center. For those who want to picnic, suitable areas are available at various points in the park; however, care must be taken regarding lighting fires within the framework of national park rules.

Uludağ has one of Turkey's most developed mountain tourism infrastructures. In the area known as the hotel region, there are many accommodation options, including luxury ski hotels. You can choose from a wide range of options, from boutique guesthouses to large hotel complexes, according to your budget and expectations.

For those seeking an experience intertwined with nature, camping is also a valid option. It is possible to camp within the national park boundaries; however, it is necessary to stay in designated areas and comply with the park management's rules. Uludağ offers different frames for photography enthusiasts in every season. In winter months, forests and peaks covered in white snow create an ideal backdrop for dramatic compositions.
