Vakıf Han is a three-story Ottoman caravanserai located in Trabzon's Ortahisar neighborhood, built in 1781-82 by Seyyid Hacı Abdullah, son of Hacı Yahya; the open-courtyard structure is currently used for commercial purposes and houses the Hacı Yahya Mosque on its upper floor.
Vakıf Han stands in the Ortahisar neighborhood, within the historic Bedesten area of Trabzon. According to its inscription, it was built in the Hijri year 1196, corresponding to 1781-82 AD, by Seyyid Hacı Abdullah, son of Hacı Yahya. Located northwest of the Bedesten, the structure is one of the three-story, open-courtyard examples of Ottoman urban caravanserai architecture.
Its entrance is from the south facade, on the first floor. The courtyard is surrounded by arcades and rooms of varying sizes, with an iwan in the middle to the north. The Hacı Yahya Mosque is located on the second floor, in the southeastern corner of the han. The minaret of the mosque is currently ruined. The building's inscription is carved in two lines of thuluth script on marble, above the round-arched door in the southeastern corner.
Vakıf Han is not a museum; it is still a functioning commercial building. The ground floor is used as a warehouse, while merchants from various trades work in the rooms on the upper floors. Although some original details have changed due to repairs over the years, it is still possible to discern 18th-century caravanserai architecture through its courtyard layout and arcaded facade.

Vakıf Han can be visited during the day, depending on the working hours of the surrounding merchants. Since the han still serves its commercial function, weekday mornings and afternoons are when the shops are open and the courtyard is lively. On weekends, some shops might be closed, in which case you can only see the exterior and the courtyard.

Vakıf Han is located on Bedesten Street, in Trabzon's historic bazaar area. You can reach the Ortahisar area in the city center by city bus or dolmuş, then find it by walking around the Bedesten. It's practical to take a taxi or airport shuttle from Trabzon Airport to the city center, then walk to this area which is within walking distance of the bazaar.

The round-arched entrance gate at the southeast corner, with its two-line thuluth inscription, is the most photographed detail. Looking up from inside the courtyard, the arrangement of the arcaded floors also provides a good shot illustrating the architecture.

The han is not a museum-like space; it is a commercial building with still-operating shops. The interior areas are used by merchants, so it's important not to disturb their work during your visit. Some parts of the structure have changed during repairs, and the original staircase and room layout are not fully preserved.
