Hora Lighthouse (Hoşköy Lighthouse)

The best time to visit Hora Lighthouse is during the spring and summer months. In these seasons, the color of the Marmara Sea and the greenery of the coastal road create a beautiful picture together. It is possible to reach Hoşköy Neighborhood by public transport from Tekirdağ city center or Şarköy; minibus services operate from Şarköy to Hoşköy. If you are coming by car, you can proceed towards the lighthouse from the Hoşköy entrance. Keep in mind that the final road to the lighthouse is single-lane and stony, and navigation can sometimes direct to the wrong spot. Getting directions from locals would be the safest option.

The interior of Hora Lighthouse is closed to visitors; you can only see the structure from the outside. Some visitors state that the location on Google Maps does not show the lighthouse accurately. Instead of blindly trusting navigation, pay attention to road signs and local directions from the Hoşköy entrance. The road to the lighthouse, while suitable for vehicles, is quite narrow and stony.

The best photo angles of Hora Lighthouse are obtained from the sea side. From the land road, the corner where the lighthouse meets the Marmara Sea also offers a strong composition, especially during golden hour. Walking along the coastline, it is possible to capture both the lighthouse and the Marmara in the same frame. At sunset, the silhouette of the iron structure becomes even more distinct.

Hora Lighthouse, or by its new name Hoşköy Lighthouse, is located in Hoşköy Neighborhood, Şarköy district of Tekirdağ, on the coast of the Marmara Sea. Built by French engineers in 1861 by order of Sultan Abdülmecid, the structure was made entirely of iron with special materials brought from France. This lighthouse, approximately 20 meters high, has been continuously serving maritime traffic for over 160 years. It still retains its feature of being one of the oldest and most unique historical structures in the region today.

While visiting Hora Lighthouse, you can also stop at other points in its vicinity. The coastal road extending from Hoşköy to Şarköy, along with villages like Gaziköy and Mürefte, forms a beautiful day trip route. Şarköy is an important viticulture center of the region; local wine and grape products can be easily found here.
