Süleymanpaşa Yeniköy

The most suitable period to visit Yeniköy is between April-June and September-October. In spring, the weather is cool, and the waterfalls are at their fullest due to the rainy season. In mid-summer, the valley can be quite hot; especially for the trail leading to the waterfalls, starting early in the morning provides a more comfortable hike. In winter months, the paths can be muddy and slippery, so those planning a hike should be careful.

The easiest way to reach Yeniköy is by private car. You can reach the village, which is approximately 20 km from Tekirdağ city center, by going via Süleymanpaşa towards Uçmakdere. Since the village is located on the Uçmakdere route, following the road signs is sufficient. Public transportation options are limited, so renting a car from the city center or taking a taxi would be a much more reliable choice.

Yeniköy offers several different landscapes ready to be framed. The Yeniköy Waterfalls reach their most impressive appearance, especially in spring; the rocky ground in front of the waterfall forms an ideal spot for both photography and a short break. The old stone structures around the monastery ruins provide an interesting backdrop for shots reflecting the historical atmosphere. When viewed from above the valley, the panoramic view where the sea and mountains are seen together is very valuable for wide-angle photographs.

If you plan to include Yeniköy in your Tekirdağ trip, it would be a logical plan to combine it with Uçmakdere on the same day. In the morning, you can come to Yeniköy, first visit the monastery ruins, and then hike towards the waterfalls. In the afternoon, you can proceed to Uçmakdere and visit the region's famous vineyards and wineries. This route creates a balanced daily program in terms of both nature and cultural content.

Yeniköy itself does not have a large food and beverage infrastructure. It is recommended to eat in Tekirdağ city center or Süleymanpaşa before your visit, or to bring your own food and drinks. In Uçmakdere, which is close to the region, there are small restaurants offering local wines and regional Thracian cuisine.

The trail leading to the waterfalls requires sturdy hiking shoes due to uneven terrain conditions. It is not recommended to go on this route with sandals or flat-soled shoes. Carrying enough water with you is important, especially in summer. The ground around the monastery ruins can be uneven; if you are going with children, you need to be careful. Since the signal in the region may be weak, downloading an offline map beforehand will make your job easier.
