Kurşunlu Bathhouse

The bathhouse operates at all hours of the day, but those who go early in the morning report a calmer environment. Weekend afternoons are preferred by locals, so it can be crowded. If you want to avoid waiting in line for scrubbing and massage, try a weekday morning.

Kurşunlu Bathhouse is located right in the middle of Sivas city center, only 400 meters from the historical city square. It can be reached in 5 minutes on foot from the square. For those coming from outside the city, the most practical way is to walk from a hotel or accommodation point in the center. If you are going by car, parking is problematic, so park in a nearby parking lot and walk the remaining distance.

For bathhouse entry only, 45 minutes to 1 hour is sufficient. If you add scrubbing and massage, the duration can extend to 1.5-2 hours. As part of your Sivas trip, it's a good plan to visit the bathhouse at the end of the day to relax after exploring other historical structures in the city center (such as Ulu Mosque, Çifte Minareli Madrasah).

Visitor comments describe different experiences regarding service quality. Some were extremely satisfied with the scrubbing and massage, even thanking a specific employee by name. Some comments mention high prices or dissatisfaction with cleanliness. One comment states that there is no steam room; if you expect a traditional steam experience, ask beforehand. The bathhouse is located south of Behram Pasha Inn, on Arap Şeyh Street. Thanks to its proximity to the historical city square, you can easily include Sivas's Seljuk period works, Çifte Minareli Madrasah, Gök Madrasah, and Şifaiye Madrasah, in your itinerary. It is also a good starting point for those who want to see the inn and caravanserai texture in the center.

Behram Pasha had the bathhouse built as a double bathhouse from cut stone in 1576. Its name comes from its construction by pouring lead into the iron connection points in its walls. The structure, which bears the characteristics of classical Ottoman bath architecture, has separate sections for women and men. There are other historical bathhouses from this period in Sivas, such as Hamamcıoğlu Bathhouse, Meydan Bathhouse, and Mehmet Ali Bathhouse, but Kurşunlu is one of the most well-known among them.
