Kumlubük Bay

The most suitable period to visit Kumlubük is May, June, and September. During this time, the sea water is warm enough, and the crowds are well below the July-August peak. In mid-summer, especially on weekends, the bay can get quite full with visitors arriving by both road and boat tours. As it is a windy bay, a refreshing breeze should be expected in the afternoon; this does not negatively affect swimming comfort, but rather feels pleasant on hot days.

There are two ways to reach the bay: by road and by sea. If you are coming by car, you need to drive approximately 24 km from Marmaris towards Turunç, and then another 5-6 km on a narrow road from Turunç. This last section is single-lane, winding, and quite narrow; visitors state that maneuvering becomes difficult when a car approaches from the opposite direction. Setting off early in the morning reduces traffic congestion.

The most practical option is boat tours departing from Marmaris. The vast majority of blue cruises and daily boat trips stop at Kumlubük; when you arrive by sea, you avoid the stress of the narrow road. Tours departing from Marmaris harbor in the morning usually visit a few other bays and return in the evening.

The most impressive views of Kumlubük come from the panorama framed by the pine forests on both sides of the bay. When you park your car in the upper parts of the road leading down to the bay and look at the sea, the bay view, appearing like a blue hollow opening within the green, offers a strong frame for photography. Shots taken from the sea looking towards the shore, with the forest in the background, are also striking. Photos taken in the morning light before the sun rises and shadows fall on the bay yield the clearest colors.

There are a few small businesses on the beach offering food and drinks; however, options are quite limited, and visitors frequently mention that prices are high. The region is also known for its seafood; eating fresh fish and seafood at restaurants in Turunç and its surroundings is a good option to consider before or after visiting the bay. Bringing your own food and drinks to the bay will be both practical and economical.

Entry to Kumlubük public beach is free. Expenses mainly arise from transportation and services on the shore. Private businesses reportedly charge around 400 TL per person for sun lounger areas; this figure may include an umbrella. If you bring your own chair and umbrella, you can completely eliminate this cost. If you come by boat tour, the tour price varies per person from Marmaris; it's wise to compare multiple agencies for daily tours.

Road conditions: The road down to the bay is indeed narrow and single-lane. If you are coming by car, careful driving is essential; it can be difficult to come with large vehicles.

Ground: Some visitors state that the beach ground includes stony sections; bringing sea shoes will increase your comfort.

Showers and toilets: It is stated that there are shower and toilet facilities on the beach, but it would be healthier to inquire on-site whether these belong to the business area.

Shade: Natural shade in the public beach area is limited; especially at noon, staying for a long time without sun protection and an umbrella can be tiring.

Kumlubük is perfect for a day trip. You can depart from Marmaris or Turunç in the morning, arrive at the bay before noon, spend 4-6 hours swimming and relaxing, and have dinner in Turunç on your way back. If you come by boat tour, the tour program usually allows for 1-2 hours of anchoring time. Although there are known suitable areas around the bay for those who want to camp, it is recommended to research camping facilities in advance.
