Güllük

The best time to visit Güllük is during May-June and September-October. In these months, the weather is warm enough for swimming, and the town is free from the July-August crowds. In September, sea temperatures remain high, and walking along the coast is much more enjoyable. In July and August, the town doesn't overflow, but prices rise in mid-summer, and finding accommodation can become difficult. During winter months, the town becomes very quiet; many businesses close.

The most practical way to reach Güllük is via Milas-Bodrum Airport; the distance to the town is only 9 km. You can reach it quickly by taxi or rental car from the airport. Minibus services also operate from Milas city center to Güllük. Those arriving by private car should follow the Milas-Bodrum highway, turn right at the Güllük sign, and drive 8 km down to the town. There are also regular services from Bodrum; the journey takes approximately 40-50 minutes.

Since Güllük is a fishing town, the menus of restaurants around the harbor are largely based on seafood. Fresh fish from the daily catch, octopus, and shrimp are among the most preferred. Having breakfast at the cafes around the small square is a great way to feel the town's pace. It's a good habit to ask for prices before ordering; especially during the summer season, fresh fish prices can change daily.

The most striking shots in Güllük come from around the harbor. Early mornings, when fishing boats are lined up in the harbor and sunlight reflects on the water, offer very impressive views. While strolling through the town's stone streets, flowered balconies and wooden doors also hold interesting details. To get a panoramic view of Mandalya Bay, it's enough to go a little higher up the town; the entire width of the bay can be captured in a single frame.

For those who just want to see Güllük, half a day to a full day is sufficient. The true charm of the town is experienced at a slow pace, when staying for a few days. For those who want to repeat the cycle of morning breakfast, afternoon sea, and evening fish restaurant a few times, staying 2-3 nights is an ideal option. If you also want to visit Asin Cove and the surrounding coves, it is recommended to allocate at least 2 full days.

You can explore the surrounding coves and natural areas by basing yourself in Güllük. Asin Cove stands out as a quiet cove close to the town. Along the coastline stretching towards Güvercinlik, there are alternatives such as Bardakçı Cove and Kargı Cove; these spots can be reached by boat tour or by road. Due to its proximity to Milas, you can also create a travel program that combines Güllük with the ancient city of Milas and its surrounding historical sites.

Since Güllük is a small town, accommodation capacity is limited during the summer season; it is necessary to plan reservations in advance, especially for July-August. There are no large shopping centers or chain supermarkets in the town; while small grocery stores are sufficient for basic needs, it might be more practical to get your special needs from Milas. For those arriving by car, finding parking around the harbor can be difficult in mid-summer; early hours like 08:00-09:00 are more advantageous in this regard.
