The most suitable periods for Namrun Castle are spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October). During these months, the weather is neither scorching nor freezing; the hiking trail is comfortable, and the mountain view is clear. In summer, thanks to Çamlıyayla's altitude (approximately 1,500 meters), it remains cooler compared to the Mersin plain, but those who want to avoid the midday sun should prefer morning hours. In winter, the snowy Taurus silhouette takes on a completely different appearance; moreover, visitor density is at its lowest during this period.

The distance from Mersin city center to Çamlıyayla is approximately 80 km. If you are going by private car, simply follow the Mersin-Namrun highway; the road is mountainous and winding, so the driving time can be 1.5-2 hours. Those who prefer public transport can take minibuses from Mersin bus terminal to Çamlıyayla. Important note: The castle entrance is only from Büyükkale Street on the west side. Google Maps sometimes directs to the east side of the castle; if you follow this route, you will not find the entrance point. The most reliable method is to ask locals for directions once you arrive in the district center.

The walking path starting from Büyükkale Street leads to the castle hill in 20-30 minutes at a normal pace. The climb is not very steep; there are stairs, and the path is generally well-maintained. If you follow a circular route at the top, you will see all the castle ruins and appreciate the view from all sides. A total of 1.5 hours, including the descent, is sufficient. There are also small restaurants in Çamlıyayla district center where you can have local food after your visit.

The best photo spot at Namrun Castle is its summit. From here, you can get a 360-degree view of the Taurus Mountains; in winter, snowy mountain silhouettes enter the frame. At sunset, the light hitting the mountains creates interesting shots. The castle wall ruins on the climbing path also provide a good backdrop for documentary-style photographs.

Namrun (Çamlıyayla) is known for its products grown in the cool climate of the Taurus plateau. In the small restaurants in the district center, you can find local village breakfast, fresh stuffed grape leaves, and dishes prepared with mountain herbs. Completing your castle visit with lunch here will help you make the most of your day. Don't forget to bring snacks and plenty of water; there are no sales points around the castle.

Toilet facilities around the castle are extremely limited; visitors express complaints about this. Choose comfortable, non-slip shoes for walking; the ground can be slippery in places. Parking space in the immediate vicinity is almost non-existent, so plan to leave your car in the district center and walk. It is also necessary to be careful about litter; some visitors draw attention to the litter problem in the area, and it is important to be respectful of the environment during your visit.

Namrun Castle alone fills a half-day program. It is possible to leave Mersin in the morning and return in the afternoon. If you combine it with the natural beauties and local cuisine of Çamlıyayla, a full day may be required. Planning it as a day trip from Mersin is the most common choice; those who wish to stay overnight can find small guesthouses in the district.
