Kasteller is a historical structure located in Gaziantep's Şehreküstü district, near the Coppersmiths' Bazaar, and is open to visitors free of charge by Şahinbey Municipality. Built in the 16th century, the structure was used as a laundry, toilet, ablution area, and bathing place during its period, and served as an ammunition depot or shelter during the War of Independence. Being able to see the channels through which water reached the structure makes the visit tangible and meaningful.
The vast majority of visitors highlight the guide staff as the strongest aspect of the venue. The staff, named Vakkas and Yılmaz, provide detailed information about the history of the structure and its former uses; this information makes the short visit much more valuable. Since free entry and friendly guidance are offered together, the venue receives positive feedback from both local and first-time visitors to the city.
However, there are also points that some visitors should pay attention to:
