Üryan Baba Tomb is a small stone tomb built in 1278 AH, located on the slope of the Kayabağı cliffs near Elazığ's Harput Neighborhood. Housing the grave of Hafız Muhammed according to its entrance inscription, the structure is known as Tesbihli Baba among the public and attracts visitors during religious holidays.
Üryan Baba Tomb stands just before entering Harput Neighborhood, on the slope of the steep cliffs called Kayabaşı, facing Harput. It is a small and simple structure: a stone block with a semi-arch on rectangular stone columns, that's all. But the inscription on the entrance gate is striking. According to the text, the person buried here is Hafız Muhammed, grandson of İsmail and son of Ömer; the text uses phrases for him such as "one of Allah's mystics, one of the scholars of the secret of love." The tomb was built in 1278 AH after the discovery of the grave.
It is also known as Tesbihli Baba among the public. It is said that the mosque next to it was formerly used as a dervish lodge; today, this section stands as an adjoining shrine to the tomb. Upon entering through the entrance gate, you will find the sarcophagus on the right side. In Elazığ, the number of visitors increases especially during religious holidays; for the local people, the tomb is still a place of visit and prayer.
For those using the road to Harput, this tomb is a short stop right off the main route, not taking much time. It can be seen with a 10-15 minute detour while exploring the castle or the Grand Mosque.

You are on the road from Elazığ city center to Harput. Just before entering Harput Neighborhood, at the foot of the cliffs called Kayabaşı, you will see the tomb on the right side within a garden. It is possible to reach by your own vehicle or by shared taxi (dolmuş) going to Harput; drive slowly as the road to Harput is narrow and winding.

The tomb is close to one of Harput's main entry points. It is within walking distance of the Castle, the Grand Mosque, and Sara Hatun Mosque. It is enough to add it as a small detour to your route when visiting Harput; it does not require a separate travel plan.
How Much Time to Allocate
The tomb itself is small. 10-15 minutes is enough to read the inscription, see the sarcophagus, and take photos. If you plan it with other historical structures of Harput, you can comfortably explore for half a day.
