Geyve Han (Lonca Hanı)

Most of the year is suitable for visiting Geyve Han. However, spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) offer the most balanced period in terms of both weather conditions and crowds. In summer, Bursa becomes quite lively, and the Khans Region gets particularly busy on weekends. Going in the early morning allows you to photograph the courtyard and fountain in a quieter environment. A winter visit is also possible; the stone texture and deserted courtyard of the region gain a completely different atmosphere in this season.

Geyve Han is located in the historical center of Bursa, within the Khans Region. It is within walking distance of the Grand Mosque; you can reach it by walking a few minutes from the mosque. If you are using BursaRay, you can get off at the Şehreküstü station and walk a short distance to the area. Many municipal buses from different parts of the city also stop near the Khans Region. For those coming by car, there are paid parking options around the area; however, due to the narrow streets, public transport or walking is much more practical.

If you are visiting Geyve Han, you can also explore the other historical khans around it and make the day productive. Koza Han, the most famous structure in the region, dates back to the 15th century; silk cocoon sales still continue in its courtyard. Pirinç Han, İpek Han, and Fidan Han are also located in the same area. All these khans are within walking distance of each other and can be easily visited in a single day. The Grand Mosque and the Grand Bazaar are also located very close to the Khans Region.

Geyve Han alone deserves a visit of 30 to 60 minutes. Exploring the courtyard, examining the fountain, walking through the arcades, and taking a short break in the tea garden can easily fit into this time. If you are visiting Geyve Han along with the entire Khans Region, it would be more appropriate to allocate half a day to a full day. Starting early in the morning and visiting the Grand Mosque and its surroundings in the afternoon is a practical way to make good use of the day.

Geyve Han is a very suitable place for photography with its architectural details and courtyard layout. The fountain in the middle of the courtyard offers interesting shots under different lighting conditions throughout the day. The arcade corridors on the upper floor are ideal for perspective photos that create a sense of depth. The soft light falling into the courtyard in the early morning highlights the stone texture. Frames taken from the khan's gate inwards or outwards can also be a strong choice to reflect the atmosphere of the region.

Sitting in the tea garden within the khan and enjoying tea with conversation can become a natural part of the visit. For a more comprehensive meal, there are many options around the Khans Region and the Grand Bazaar. Bursa's symbol, İskender kebab, is the main delicacy that must be tried in the city. Small restaurants in the region also offer pide, meatballs, and İnegöl meatballs. Candied chestnuts and silk fabrics are among the prominent products for shopping.

Entry to Geyve Han is free, and the courtyard is open to visitors during the day. The shops and tea garden inside open and close according to their own working hours; if you want to visit the shops, it is more guaranteed to go before noon. Since the area contains narrow streets paved with cobblestones, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Wheelchair access is limited. As the Khans Region has a high tourist density, it is advisable to pay attention to your belongings.

Entry to Geyve Han is completely free. You do not pay any fee to explore the courtyard and examine the architecture. If you want to drink something in the tea garden, you may need to pay a symbolic fee. If you plan to shop from the stores in the Khans Region, it would be appropriate to budget for silk products and handicrafts. Overall, a visit to Geyve Han is one of Bursa's most economical cultural experiences.
