Istanbul Air Force Museum

The museum is closed on Mondays, so you need to plan accordingly. Open from Tuesday to Sunday between 09:00 and 17:00, it might be advantageous to visit on Wednesdays, which are public days.

Spring and autumn months are the most suitable times to enjoy the open-air exhibition. In summer, you might feel the sun's intensity while examining the outdoor aircraft during midday; therefore, we recommend going in the early morning or late afternoon. During semester and summer holidays, the museum can get crowded due to school trips; for a quieter visit, prefer weekday mornings.

The most practical way to reach the Istanbul Air Force Museum is by Marmaray. You can get off at Yeşilköy station and walk approximately 300 meters from the Eski Havaalanı Caddesi exit to reach the museum. This route is both fast and independent of traffic, making it especially convenient on weekends.

For those preferring buses, IETT lines BN1 and BN2 departing from Eminönü will take you directly to the vicinity of the museum. Those wishing to come by minibus or shared taxi (dolmuş) can use line A42. Parking is available near the museum for those arriving by private car; however, finding a parking spot can be difficult on busy days.

The Istanbul Air Force Museum has a comprehensive collection arranged in both indoor exhibition halls and a large open-air area. Dozens of real aircraft and air defense weapons are displayed in the open area; visitors have the opportunity to examine and photograph these vehicles up close.

The indoor section features documents, equipment, uniforms, and pilot stories related to Turkish aviation history. In the indoor exhibition halls, there is good lighting for detailed photos of historical equipment and uniforms. Photos comparing sizes by standing under or next to the aircraft in the open area also yield very striking results. Drone use is strictly prohibited due to military area restrictions; you must pay attention to this rule.

As the museum is part of the Air Force Academy Command, ID checks may be conducted upon entry; please carry your ID with you. Visitors under 18 and over 65 are entitled to free entry.
