Adana Great Clock Tower

Adana has a very hot and humid climate in summer, so the most comfortable period to visit the Great Clock Tower is between October and April. In spring, the blooming surrounding streets and mild weather offer ideal conditions for a walking exploration.

By car: Since parking may be limited in the city center, it is recommended to use paid parking lots nearby. By foot: If you are in the historical bazaar area, reaching the Great Clock Tower on foot is both practical and enjoyable; you can also observe the historical texture, such as the Kazancılar Bazaar, along the way.

The Great Clock Tower is one of Adana's most photographed structures. The square directly in front of the tower is the most classic spot to frame the entire structure with a wide angle; in the morning, as the sun rises behind the tower, it also offers a suitable location for silhouette photos.

In photos taken from a low angle from the surrounding streets, the height and stone texture of the tower stand out. For night shots, you can choose the evening hours when the illumination comes on; with long exposure techniques, you can also include the bazaar activity in your frame. Street photography using historical bazaar artisans and traditional stalls as a background is also very productive in this area.

The area around the Great Clock Tower is full of restaurants and street food spots where you can find the most authentic flavors of Adana cuisine. For Adana kebab, the symbol of the region, well-established kebab shops in the historical bazaar can be your first choice.

For lunch, you can easily find small restaurants serving şalgamlı ayran (turnip juice with buttermilk) and lahmacun. For dessert, sweet shops offering Adana's unique şambali and künefe are available nearby. While strolling through the bazaar, you will also notice small cafes where you can drink traditional Turkish coffee or freshly squeezed pomegranate juice.

The Great Clock Tower is a great starting point for exploring Adana's historical texture. After observing traditional handicrafts in Kazancılar Bazaar, which you can reach by walking from the tower, head south to visit the Adana Grand Mosque.

From there, proceed to the banks of the Seyhan River to reach Taşköprü (Stone Bridge); this Roman-era bridge is another symbol of the city. After resting by the river, you can also add the nearby Adana Archaeology Museum to your route. This entire route can be completed on foot and takes between half a day and a full day.

Since the Great Clock Tower is located outdoors, no special entrance or ticket is required for a visit; it can be explored completely free of charge. The square and streets around the tower have heavy bazaar traffic throughout the day; it can be crowded, especially at noon.

As Adana's summer temperatures can reach very high levels, it is recommended to carry plenty of water and sunscreen. It should also be noted that one should be careful about pickpocketing while walking in the bazaar. Entry to the interior of the tower is not possible; the structure can only be visited from the outside.
