Abdulmuttalip Zawiya is a Seljuk-era zawiya and tomb located in Tokat's Mahmutpaşa Neighborhood, built in 1318 by Abdullah bin Muhyiddin; with its domed space and inner tomb, it is one of the city's faith tourism spots.
Abdulmuttalip Zawiya is located in Mahmutpaşa Neighborhood, central Tokat, on the Soğukpınar road. The structure was built by Abdullah bin Muhyiddin in 1318 (Hijri 717) during the reign of Ilkhanid ruler Abu Sa'id Bahadur Khan. Abdullah bin Muhyiddin, who passed away in the same year, was buried in this tomb he had built. Another name for the structure is Ahi Muhyiddin Zawiya; it has two inscriptions, one on the door and one on the tomb window.
Architecturally, the zawiya consists of a square main hall entered from the northern door, covered by a dome with Turkish triangle transitions. An iwan covered with a barrel vault and small side rooms are connected to this space; the side sections are covered with a wooden beamed ceiling. In the center of the domed main hall, there is a pool, and above it, a skylight lantern. From the two doors on the west wall, the southern one leads to the tomb; the square-planned tomb is also covered with a dome with Turkish triangle transitions and has windows at a lower level.
Considered one of the simple but original examples of Seljuk period architecture, the structure has undergone restoration in the past. It is evaluated within the scope of faith tourism; it is a stop for those who want to follow Tokat's Seljuk-Ilkhanid period architectural heritage, along with other large tombs and zawiyas in Tokat (such as Sümbül Baba, Esentimur Tomb).

The zawiya is a structure that can be visited in any season due to its open-air architecture, but spring and summer months are more comfortable for walking around central Tokat. If you plan to walk through the narrow streets of Mahmutpaşa Neighborhood, choosing morning hours instead of hot summer afternoons will be more comfortable.
How to Get There
You can reach Behzat district by city buses. There is a walking distance from Behzat Boulevard to the zawiya. If you are going by your own car, simply enter the address Mahmutpaşa Mahallesi 1. Çıkmaz into your navigation; remember that the streets are narrow.
Location in the City
The zawiya is located within the historical fabric of central Tokat, on the Soğukpınar road. Other Seljuk-Ilkhanid period works of Tokat are also in the same area; it is possible to see several historical structures consecutively with a short walk.
How Much Time to Allocate
The zawiya itself is a small-scale structure; 15-25 minutes are sufficient to see the domed main hall, iwan, and tomb. You can combine it with other historical points in central Tokat to create a half-day history route.
Route Suggestion
It is logical to combine Abdulmuttalip Zawiya with the Gaziosmanpaşa Boulevard line where Sümbül Baba Zawiya and Tomb and Esentimur Tomb (Sivri Tekke) are located. All three date back to the Seljuk-Ilkhanid period and are close to each other; in one day, you would have seen a significant part of Tokat's tomb-zawiya heritage.
