Ulaş Bridge

Ulaş Bridge is an open-air structure and can be visited all year round. Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are the most enjoyable periods, both for the mild weather and the green appearance of the Ergene River surroundings. Since Thracian summers can be hot and dry, it is advisable to avoid midday in mid-summer. In winter months, when the river water rises, the arch structure of the bridge gains a much more dramatic appearance.

To reach Ulaş Bridge, you need to proceed from Tekirdağ city center towards Ergene district via D-565 (Tekirdağ-Lüleburgaz Road). When you follow the Çorlu-Edirne highway, the bridge appears approximately 15 meters north of the road, over the Ergene River. Its distance from Tekirdağ center is approximately 50 kilometers.

Since public transportation connections in the region are limited, a private car is the most practical option. Those coming from Istanbul can take the Çorlu exit from the E-80 highway and switch to D-565.

The angle that best reflects the bridge's arch structure is shots taken from riverbed level. Especially before noon, the sun beautifully illuminates the stone texture of the bridge. To capture the Ergene River flowing under the bridge and the arch silhouette in the same frame, you need to go down to the riverbank. In autumn, with the changing colors of the surrounding trees, you can achieve a much more layered composition.

Ulaş Bridge can be combined with other Ottoman works in the Ergene district to create a productive daily cultural route. The Sokollu Mehmed Pasha Complex in Ergene (built by Mimar Sinan between 1566-1570, with its four-arched bridge) is the strongest stop on this route. For those interested in the historical fabric of Thrace, a route combined with Çorlu and its surroundings can also be created.

30 to 60 minutes is sufficient for Ulaş Bridge itself. Examining the structure closely, taking photos by the river, and exploring the surroundings comfortably fit into this time. If you combine it with other historical structures in the Ergene district, you can make a plan that extends up to half a day.

Since the bridge is outdoors and by the river, it is recommended to choose appropriate footwear; the riverbank can be slippery during rainy periods. There are no facilities or cafes in the area, so it's a good idea to bring water and snacks with you. Be careful when parking your car as the bridge is near an active road route.

Ulaş Bridge is a historical Ottoman stone bridge located over the Ergene River within the borders of Ulaş Neighborhood, Ergene district of Tekirdağ. Positioned just north of the Çorlu-Edirne highway, the structure is one of the surviving examples of the region's Ottoman-era infrastructure heritage.
