Çorlu Castle

Since Çorlu Castle is an open-air area, weather conditions directly affect the visit. April–May and September–October are the most suitable periods, both for mild weather and the vibrancy of the surrounding nature. In summer, it can be quite hot on the hill during midday; choosing between 09:00–11:00 or late afternoon makes the visit much more comfortable. It can also be visited in winter; care should be taken as the ground can become slippery on rainy days.

The castle is located approximately 2 km from Çorlu city center, in Hıdırağa Neighborhood. For those coming by car, Salih Omurtak Street is the main route; it is possible to find parking near the castle. Those coming from Istanbul can use the Çorlu exit via the E-80 (TEM) highway; the journey is approximately 90–100 km. It is also possible to reach Çorlu from Tekirdağ center via the D-110 highway. Those preferring public transport can follow the minibuses heading to Hıdırağa Neighborhood from Çorlu bus station.

Due to the limited existing remains, Çorlu Castle can be explored within 30–60 minutes. Those who want to make more efficient use of the region can create a half-day itinerary by adding the nearby Ancient City of Thzolus and other historical points in Çorlu (Historical Çorlu House, Rüstem Pasha Mosque) to their program.

For those who want to see Çorlu's historical texture in one day, the following order works: Start with Çorlu Castle, then move on to the nearby ruins of the Ancient City of Thzolus. In the afternoon, return to the city center to visit Rüstem Pasha Mosque and the Historical Çorlu House. This route offers an itinerary with traces from both the Byzantine and Ottoman periods.

Thanks to its hilltop location, the castle offers a dominant viewpoint of the surroundings. The bastion foundations and brick arch remains contain interesting details for photographers seeking historical texture. Çorlu Castle is an open-air historical structure; there is no entrance gate, ticket office, or guided tour service. Care should be taken on the ground when walking on the ruins, as some sections have very uneven stone surfaces. We recommend wearing comfortable, non-slip shoes. There are no toilets or cafes in the castle area; it would be advisable to take care of these needs before your visit.
