19th Division Monument

The 19th Division Monument takes its name from the word "fırka," which means division in the Ottoman army. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk commanded the 19th Division during the Gallipoli Campaigns; this unit undertook critical defensive duties on the Arıburnu and Conkbayırı fronts. Opened in Tekirdağ in 2013, the monument was built to keep alive the memory of this historical unit and its commander.

The monument, also registered on the official website of Süleymanpaşa Municipality, is located right in the middle of the city's historical fabric on Namık Kemal Street. It is a valuable symbolic and cultural stop for visitors coming to Tekirdağ.

Since the 19th Division Monument is on Namık Kemal Street, it can easily be combined with other historical sites on the same street and in the vicinity. For a short city route, you can try the following order:

1. Namık Kemal House (free entry, closed on Mondays) → 2. 19th Division Monument → 3. Rüstem Pasha Mosque (nearby) → 4. Tekirdağ Archaeology and Ethnography Museum. This route allows you to explore the historical fabric of Tekirdağ in approximately half a day.

Tekirdağ is a gastronomy city known throughout the country, especially for its Tekirdağ meatballs. Meatball restaurants are very common in the Süleymanpaşa district where the monument is located and in the city center. Restaurants offering fresh fish and seafood are also a good choice due to its proximity to the Marmara coast.

Local wines from Tekirdağ's Şarköy district and regional olive oils are also among the flavors that must be tried.

The area in front of the monument offers good shots, especially in the morning with natural light. When you frame the historical texture along Namık Kemal Street with the monument, you can get photos that reflect the city's atmosphere. You may need to step back a bit to capture the entire monument in your frame; it's not difficult to find suitable angles on the street.
