The ruins encompass a city center surrounded by walls dating from the 4th to the 6th centuries AD.
The vast majority of visitors say that the area covers a much larger area than they expected. The theater is also a frequently highlighted point: it stands solid as a structure and is a powerful stop with its panoramic view of the surroundings. The area has not yet been sufficiently excavated; more findings are expected to come to light in the coming years. Museum Pass is accepted at the entrance, but there is no market or cafeteria within the site; it is essential to bring your own drinks. Parking capacity is limited, with space for approximately 10 vehicles.

Since Pisilis is an open-air site, it gets quite hot in mid-summer. April-May and September-October are the most comfortable periods in terms of both temperature and crowds. If you are coming in July-August, be sure to bring an umbrella; visitors particularly emphasize this. There are few shaded areas on the site, but there are also windy spots.
How to Get There?
Pisilis Ancient City is located near Sarıgerme village, in the Ortaca district of Muğla. You can reach it by car in approximately 30-45 minutes from Fethiye or Ortaca city center. The road to the site is narrow and winding; slow driving is important for both safety and comfort. Public transport options are quite limited, so using a rental car or private vehicle is the most practical way.

The hilltop theater offers a strong photographic frame, both architecturally and with the greenery and sea view in the background. It is also possible to capture the general silhouette of the ancient city from the viewpoint along the road. The quality of light significantly increases closer to sunset; at this time, the area becomes even more attractive for those who want to take photos.

There are no sales points or cafeterias within the site; visitors state that prices are high at the existing point at the entrance. It is best to bring enough water and snacks with you. You can find various restaurant options in Sarıgerme village and Ortaca town center.

Considering the size of the area, Pisilis can be comfortably explored in 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Since the Kaunos Rock Tombs in Dalyan are also nearby, you can combine these two points on the same day for an efficient ancient city tour.

Starting from Fethiye or Ortaca, first visit Pisilis Ancient City. You can also visit the rock tombs section located about 1 km further. For those who want to see the historical texture of the region in its entirety, it is a logical choice to move on to Dalyan for the rest of the day and add Kaunos Ancient City and its rock tombs to the program.
