Iztuzu Beach

The most suitable period to visit Iztuzu is late May to early June. The sea will be warm enough for swimming, but the July-August crowds will not have started yet. In July and August, the beach can be busy; if you arrive early in the morning during this period, it will be easier to find parking and you will have a calmer experience. Visitors state that the parking lot is almost full around 1:00-2:00 PM and they have difficulty finding shaded areas. During the Caretta caretta nesting season, which is between May and October, certain sections of the beach are protected and night entries are restricted.

There are two ways to reach Iztuzu Beach. By Car: An approximately 13 km asphalt road from Dalyan center will take you directly to the beach. The road follows the Dalyan delta and the Slngr coast; the scenery itself is enjoyable. There is a large parking lot at the beach entrance. By Boat: Boats making regular trips from Dalyan pier offer both a practical and scenic alternative. It is possible to see the delta channels and reeds during the boat trip; for this reason, many visitors prefer to take the boat on their return journey.

The most striking photo angles of Iztuzu come from the mountains framing the background of the beach. Wide-angle shots taken from both ends of the beach capture the blue of the sea, the yellow of the sand, and the green of the mountains all together. The coast on the Dalyan delta side is particularly interesting due to reflections on the calm water surface, especially in the morning hours. There are also documentary-quality photo opportunities around the turtle hospital. Shots taken from the western end of the beach at sunset are very productive in terms of light.

There is an establishment on the beach; it is possible to get food and drinks. However, visitors frequently state that the prices are high. There is a much wider selection of restaurants and cafes in Dalyan center; especially along the Dalyan canal, you can find menus mainly featuring fish and seafood. Eating lunch in Dalyan before coming to the beach or bringing your own food would be both more economical and practical.

Turtle protection rules: During the nesting season (May-October), entry to some areas of the beach is restricted and the beach closes at night. Adhering to these rules is both a legal obligation and a requirement of respect for nature. Sea depth: The beach is shallow and deepens slowly; while it offers a safe environment for small children, some visitors state that they cannot reach sufficient depth without going too far out. In wavy weather, the seabed can become murky and visibility can decrease. Shade: Shaded areas on the beach are limited; it is recommended to rent an umbrella or bring your own. Visitors also mention that the shower water is salty.

Half a day to a full day is sufficient for Iztuzu Beach alone. If you also want to explore Dalyan and its surroundings, we recommend staying at least two nights. During this time, you can also add nearby places such as the Ancient City of Kaunos, Dalyan rock tombs, Sultaniye Thermal Springs famous for its mud baths, and Lake Kyceiz to your itinerary.

In the morning, take a boat from Dalyan to Iztuzu; swim when the sea is still calm and visit the turtle hospital. At noon, take a break at the beach establishment or with food you brought with you. After spending time on the beach in the afternoon, choose the boat for your return; you can ask the boat captain to slow down to see the Dalyan rock tombs along the canal. Dinner by the canal in Dalyan center in the evening would be a pleasant end to the day.
