Kumburnu Beach

The most suitable period to visit Kumburnu is the summer season, extending from early May to late October. Early June and September offer a good balance in terms of both sea water temperature and crowd levels. During July–August, the beach gets quite crowded; arriving early, around 08:00–09:00, is a good idea during these months. For paragliding, spring and summer months, when weather conditions are stable, are the most suitable times.

Dolmuşes (minibuses) departing from Fethiye bus station to Ölüdeniz operate at regular intervals; the journey takes approximately 15–20 minutes. After getting off in Ölüdeniz village, you can reach Kumburnu Beach on foot. If you are coming by car, you can use one of the paid parking lots in Ölüdeniz; during summer months, leaving early will make it easier to find a parking spot. Kumburnu is among the most photographed beaches in Muğla. The point where the lagoon and the beach meet offers one of the clearest frames to capture the turquoise color transitions. The water color reaches its most vibrant tone at midday when the sun is overhead; in the early morning or late afternoon, the light softens and shadows lengthen.

There are many restaurants and cafes near Kumburnu in Ölüdeniz village. Fresh seafood, Aegean mezes, and local delicacies like gözleme stand out on the menus. There are also spots selling drinks and light snacks along the beach. Those who do not want to leave the beach for lunch can head to nearby cafes and buffets.

Planning half a day to a full day for Kumburnu Beach is sufficient. Those who just want to swim and take photos can comfortably explore the beach in 2–3 hours. For those adding a paragliding activity to their program, the day extends a bit; the jump and relaxing on the beach can together span a full day. If you also want to see Ölüdeniz lagoon on the same day, it is most logical to set off around 08:00–09:00 in the morning.

Kumburnu Beach and Ölüdeniz Lagoon are very close to each other but are separate areas. Keep in mind that entry to the lagoon is subject to a fee and requires a separate ticket. The beach gets quite crowded in summer; arriving early for sun loungers and umbrellas provides an advantage. Do not forget to bring sunscreen and enough water, as the midday sun in Ölüdeniz can be quite strong. Make sure to work with licensed and authorized companies for paragliding.
