Gobun Cove

Gobun Cove is located off the coast of the town of Gocek in Fethiye district of Mugla, south of Pig Island. This cove, which is mentioned as the most sheltered among the coves in Gocek Bay, is connected to the sea by a narrow strait passing between two high hills. Thanks to this structure, it remains quite calm even in strong winds and serves as a safe harbor for boats. The dense pine and olive trees extending along its coastline give the cove a unique atmosphere.

The only way to reach Gobun Cove is by boat or sailboat; there is no road connection to the cove. Daily boat tours and blue voyage routes departing from Gocek or Fethiye marinas include this cove among their visiting points. The nearest airport, Dalaman Airport, is approximately 15-20 minutes from Gocek. It is possible to arrange a private or rental boat from Gocek.

The cove can be visited during the blue voyage season, which runs from early May to the end of October. Since it is on one of the most popular routes in Gocek Bay during July and August, the cove can become quite crowded, making it difficult to find a good mooring place. For those seeking a quieter and more tranquil experience, the May-June or September-October period offers a much more suitable option. During these periods, both the weather and sea temperature are adequate for swimming.

The most striking photography moment at Gobun Cove occurs while passing through the narrow strait between two hills when entering the cove. Photos taken from inside the cove looking outward, at the mouth of the strait, are also quite impressive. During sunset hours, the shadows of pine trees on the shore and the calm waters of the cove create a beautiful atmosphere. For those spending the night in the cove, starry sky photography can also be quite rewarding; there is minimal light pollution in the area.

There is a restaurant located near the waterfront at Gobun Cove. The restaurant operates with a fixed menu system; main course, salad, rice, french fries, appetizers, and dessert or fruit are included in the price. Among regular visitors, there are those who recommend shrimp casserole and squid. On the other hand, particularly in comments from foreign visitors, it is frequently mentioned that prices reaching 50-60 Euros per person do not match the quality of the food; appetizer quality and portion size are among the most criticized issues. It is advisable to ask about current menu and prices before choosing the restaurant.

The cove's entrance is quite narrow; caution is needed when maneuvering larger boats. During summer months, the cove becomes particularly crowded in the afternoon; finding a mooring place is easier in the morning hours. As the cove is a natural area, there are no facilities or markets; it is important to have sufficient supplies and water on your boat. According to visitor comments, while the mooring place is free, an additional fee may be charged for electrical connection.

Gobun Cove is typically planned as an overnight anchoring point in blue voyage itineraries. Half a day is sufficient for swimming, resting, and having dinner in the cove, but spending the night here completes the experience, especially in terms of the starry sky and morning tranquility. It is possible to create a 3-5 day blue voyage route by combining it with other coves in Gocek Bay.
